Mutations

With the genetic code being a prevalent thing in the breed of species, it would be interesting to see if the probability of causing mutations could be possible. There could be health based mutations that could cause lower immune health that is already a feature seen in the beta, but I wonder if it could cause more visual alterations such as albinism, limb deformation, other forms of unusual coloration differentiation, and the oddity of mixed specie offspring like the liger? It would be interesting to see the range of mutation that could be possible, especially seeing unique visual alterations between species (I mostly really want to have albinism to be a possibility, even if it was a chance similar to getting a shiny to spawn in pokemon).

Oh cool! I didn't get to delve as much into the Beta as I would have liked (work got took up my spare time). I'm curious to see what else will be in the full release.
I really Hope on White tigers and Golden Tigers. maybe even Abundism Tigers. (Pseudomelanistic)
And even more Albinos and Leucistig ones

And a more Common breedable mechanic of this :) at the moment you dont really see who carry these genes

With having seen leucistic animals already I think a lot of people are expecting albinism and melanism to make its way into the game.

I'm against mixed breeding, but not going to being that argument into this thread.

I've also thought of genetic mutations as well in terms of limb deformation, etc. As interesting as that would be, I don't think we'll ever see it. Reason being: it would require new models, new textures, new rigs, and new animations. Even making them to look the same as the current models, there's still a lot you'd have to add/fix/change for every mutation.

Unfortunately I think most people would rather there be new animal species than mutations, so I don't know if it would even be worth it to spend resources on putting that in the game. I still think it would be interesting though, but yeah. Would be surprised if it was a thing.

I love albinism, Melanism and luesism etc. But I don’t like the deformity part of your wish I just think it’s a bit f’d up like children will play this game and that is not what you want them to be seeing

Albinism and Melanism are definitely going to be added as they are one of the most expected things in the game and FD can’t add only 1 colour variation and ignore the rest as that would make it pointless

Um, excuse me? Why are natural genetic deformities something "f'd up" and "something children shouldn't see"? Are you saying people with deformities should be locked away because God forbid children should see them? Because that's basically what you're implying with that statement, and that's an ugly way to look at life. Natural deformities are part of life, whether it's an animal or human. You shouldn't look at it as something grotesque and should stop treating children like they need to be bubble wrapped.

No but they reduce quality of life and who the f wants something to get a deformity. That is pure evil. In an ideal world (game world) they should not be prevalent!!!

Albinism reduces the quality of life for an animal as well. They are extremely sensitive to the light and sun because of the condition, amongst other things.

Once again you're treating a genetic deformity like it's some grotesque thing, and that sits really wrong with me.

I'm not sitting here thinking "damn I really want this fictional animal to become mutated". Rather, lots of people want realism in the game, and genetic mutations are part of life. It's not like people purposely breed those in. They happen, and it's both an interesting and sad part of life.

And ps. Not all genetic deformities decrease quality of life. Cats and dogs for example can be born missing some limbs, and that doesn't make them any less happy. Animals don't know when something is different with them; it's human emotion to think they're "crippled" or there's "something wrong with them".

Sorry my fascination with genetic development and mutation caused arguing to ensure, I do not wish to raise fuel for fire so to speak in the opinion of others....
I look forward to playing the game upon release tomorrow after work! Thank you all for your hard work on a childhood game type I obsessed over for years.

You have nothing to be sorry about! Genetics is a really fascinating thing for me as well, and it would be interesting to take it into account in a game that strives for realism. But as stated before, unfortunately working in 3D makes stuff like that quite lengthy and complicated to implement.

I am hoping for unique colour variations past albinism, melanism, and leucism though. Like brown panda bears, golden tigers, even that unique "polka dot" zebra baby that was born recently. Those would be neat to see at least.
