My 1st passenger mission - now I'm on verge of nervous breakdown

I had to take 9 passengers to Repairs Concluded. First of all, it doesn't really sound like the name of a place but okay. I knew this would happen, spent 2 hours looking for it in the galaxy map, scanned all nearby systems and googled Repairs Concluded but it yielded no useful information. It might as well have said, take passengers to Elvis Presley not withstanding after-dinner mints.

I finally found it in the transaction menu after scrolling down a bit. Its at Jacques station. I'm never going to partake in a passenger mission again but I'm curious....! What I'm I supposed to do whilst starring at this Repairs Concluded beacon thing ? Because when I returned the passengers from whence they came, nothing happened. No reward. Nothing.

What I'm I doing wrong please ?

While docked, go to your Transactions menu, select the mission, then select Abandon. You’ll get some hatefully worded mail and some slight loss of rep, but you get to keep your sanity.

Couple of things,

The mission description page now tells you the distance from your current location (Ly) and the distance you need to fly in from the jump in primary star (Ls). If the mission is in Colonia and you are in the (first) bubble, you will see that the this says something like 21,998 Ly away.

Additionally, if you go to the Galaxy map tab option (far right hand tab at the bottom of the mission description page, and also in the Transaction window description page), the map will open at the star you need to go to in order to complete the mission. However, if the map needs to reload a previously selected location, it will do this instead though, the first time that you open the galaxy map tab.

As a rule, always be sure that you know where it is that you are taking some people. How far away that is from where you are and how long that will take (you can assume approximately 1min per jump). The navigation panel will tell you how many jumps it will be with your current jump settings (ensure its on fastest route, not economic route). If you intend to use neutron star jumps, you can work on the basis of 1.15 min per jump (route is plotted in https://spansh.co.uk/plotter). Getting to Colonia takes about 150 jumps for a 60ly conda.

If you finally found it in the Transaction window (I think you meant the navigation window), I presume you were in the Colonia area and where only a few 10s of light years away.

The mission may have some commodities (typically 4t) that you need to collect when you drop the passengers off. Ensure that you have some cargo space for this or you may find that you can't hand in the mission to complete it at your destination and get the passengers to disembark.

Lastly, read the passenger requirements carefully... And don't take the mission if you are not sure. They can really trip you up!

I thought all you had to do was scan the beacon, and they'd say 'thanks, lets go back now'.

That's what I was hoping for.

Thanks Susanna, Yeah sorry, should have said. I'm already at Colonia area as you mentioned and was just 9ly from this passenger mission. One hundred and fifty jumps to Colonia!!!! Man I have to get me one of those Conda's. It took me about 1800 jumps in my T9. Only arrived early Thursday morning after setting off in November last year.

Cargo space is currently 256, all empty. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I will return now and see the situation. Thanks for all your advice. Much appreciated!

I'll let you guys know what happens.

Success!

I returned to Repairs Concluded

Once there , Tab along to Contacts - Selected "Repairs Concluded" from the list of contacts - A scan then automatically occurs - Mission updated message appears - Return to the station that gave you the mission - Select Passenger Lounge - Claim reward - easy when you know how :D

Tourist Beacons are like Nav Beacons, when you drop out of SC in their instance you still have to target them and scan them like you would a ship.

I like tourist beacons, they way they give a little info for why they are there is a nice touch.

 1800 jumps, Sheesh! Respect for doing that! I can do the trip to / from Colonia in about two afternoon sessions (couple of hours each) over the weekend. If you haven't tried using the neutron star highway yet, I'd seriously suggest giving it a go!

https://spansh.co.uk/plotter/result...&from=Shinrarta Dezhra&range=57.56&to=Colonia

The plotter estimates 134 jumps but you need to add about 20 jumps onto that for refuelling, which isn't included by the route plotter. The higher your jump range the better because of the 400% bonus jump range from neutron stars. Every Ly will get you an extra 4 Ly boosted jump range. I use a fully kitted out conda with everything I might need including the SLF and the kitchen sink! Which gives me 57.6ly jump range. I could drop the SLF for circa 60 Ly easily but I feel you need a decent low altitude aircraft if you are going to take the conda.
