My AI crew went berserk last night, and a fellow cmdr showed mercy

Lately I've been enjoying quite a lot RES hunting in my pimped Conda, in a Taipan, while the big guns are handled by the crew. Usually it's a blast (hohoho), and a very very fun thing to do. However, when it's a bit clogged, the crew tends to get trigger happy and soon enough, everything around you turns red and lasers starts focusing in your general direction. This happened to me during the current CG.

I don't know why, or what that incompetent crew of mine did, but the air around us was hateful and full of bullets. This prompted me back in the cockpit right after my fighter evaporation, to kick that silly proxy pilot butt out of the chair, take controls back and escapes the zone, boost blazing and yelling "SOOOOORRRY" in the coms.

A Cmdr in his/her Vulture, seeing me wanted, engaged in the fight and started a pursuit. I didn't want to retaliate without giving the full story, as what he/she was doing was perfectly legit. I explained what happened and sure enough, the folk answer was "oh, my bad then. Fly safe, cmdr". And the pursuit stopped, as he/she went back close to the RES.

That was very nice of you, Cmdr, as you had no real reasons to stop firing appart from being nice and polite. So thanks again!

edit: my thread title skillz went berserk too. Sorry about that.

O.s. If you edare t your post and click advanced, you can fix your thread title.

There are more great people in this game than I've ever encountered anywhere else. Now if only npc cops would take "sorry, my bad" for an answer...

Do I spot the ship from Starglider II in your sig? Oh the memories!

Oh good its not just me then.Too many times than I care to admit I think I lost lock in a dogfight and retarget security on accident and without seeing WHO I just locked onto started firing. Now 3-6 ships go red on my radar "what did I do? And now I'm wanted."

Learned this the hard way. Gimbals are a liability in a furball if the guy you're shooting has chaff. Your rounds will start landing on some innocent bystander before you have the chance to react.
