My Anaconda Destroyed while docking (not illegal), what happened?

I was carrying several groups of passengers (none wanted) from Eeyen to a nearby system with a planetary base. I was on private group mode, not open. Just before I entered glide phase I saw chat that a ship was coming after me. I figured he was SOL at this phase of flight. As the docking computer is lowering me to the pad I suddenly get hit by a ship and start spinning around. Then I saw a missile warning and briefly heard a warning about my hardpoints being deployed (I probably pulled the trigger while trying to recover from the upset). Next thing I know I'm dead and out 21M credits. I had 7A shields with boosters well over 1000. I will turn off hardpoint deploy on trigger just as a precaution. I have never heard of a NPC pursuit ship coming down and doing a kamikaze attack? Is this known to happen? I am out over a day's worth of credits and I'm NOT a happy Elite Customer. Is this something I should submit a ticket on?

Are you sure you got hit by a ship? There is apparently a new feature (bug) where skimmers spawn way above a planetary base and then drop down. If you were hit by a skimmer as it fell the base would destroy you. Might be worth a ticket, and have a hunt on the bug reporting forums for the appropriate bug threads.

Edit: Here's a link to the bug report thread...

It happened so fast it may well have been a skimmer. Thanks for the link, I'll look into it a file a ticket.

That's what it was. I found the logs, gonna post this on the bug thread and submit a ticket. Look at the "victim" name in the log:

From the posted logs, the station went from neutral (timestamp 2017-07-15T01:14:51Z) to hostile (timestamp 2017-07-15T01:15:03Z) in the space of a 12 seconds. Perhaps cuz of misfiring when you deployed hardpoints and probably squeezed off a shot or 2, due to trigger :D And one of those shots likely hit a skimmer. That's when the station denied docking and marked you hostile.

If you had a video of the event happening it'd be easier to tell.

If you have an nvidia GPU, Shadowplay has a "replay" feature which would record the last X minutes (configurable) which you could save to disk to see what happened. Very handy for these kinds of situations.

Nope, my hands were in my lap while the docking computer did it's thing. Then the boss skimmer hit me and spun the ship, I think the ship hit the station and triggered the response. Over on the bug thread many people have had the same thing happen. Good idea on the shadowplay, hadn't thought about doing that. I have setup live streaming via twitch so the more experienced players in my fleet can help me when I'm engineering something.

This bug needs to be squashed quickly.
Watching skimmers crash about me as I land is a little annoying - and it's just a matter of time before I get hit myself.
They should just disable them around landable ports for now as they are just eye candy I believe.
Course it would seem with "100 people" working on ED a fix shouldn't take this long.

Looks like you got hit by a skimmer. A known bug and one that needs to be resolved as soon as possible. You should submit a ticket as soon as possible. They will restore your re-buy credits. It took Frontier three days to respond to my ticket about my destroyed ship due to the amount of tickets they have received since the latest patch.

I thought I was lucky in not seeing this bug until a day or two ago..
Coming into land in the Cutter.. manual flight, landing gear down , about 200m from and 100m above the pad..
then POW!! I am Wanted and being shot at..

I am not guilty of combat logging but, knowing this bug was around, I just pressed the reset button on the front of the PC and went to make a coffee while it rebooted..
Came back, restarted the game and I was still Wanted, no damage to the ship, but I was 10km away from the base.
6minutes on the counter til the Bounty changed to a fine.. so I jumped to the nearest system, had my coffee, read the forums a bit then jumped back once the timer had expired.
This bug is annoying.. and I can see it being very expensive in some cases.
I am sure FDev are working on this with a view to fix it ASAP. Hope so anyways :)

I'd say that what those logs show is the result of the OP deliberately and maliciously parking their ship underneath a poor defenceless skydiving skimmer.

But, erm, yeah.

Since this has started happening, I find it's best to plan your glide so you come up about 5km short of your target.
The skimmers only fall once and, if you're still flying toward the base, you'll see 'em fall out of the sky, disappear into the ground and then pop back up and start acting normally.

As long as you're still a couple of km short of the base when it happens, you should be okay.

These skimmers are ridiculous. I wanted to test this the other day and gave one a gentle bump with my python. My python is no more.

Today I lost my Federal Gunship to the same bug. Different base. I'm trying to avoid planetary bases but I had a "Massacre" mission I started before all this happened that I needed to finish and that required me to dock there.

Took my Anaconda to Felicity today to upgrade the FSD and I was holding my breath as the computer docked me on her Planetary base.

I haven't filed a customer service request before and I think I screwed it up yesterday but today I found the correct link and filed again with both logs showing me killing a skimmer then getting blown up. I'm out around 30M credits between the 2 ships, cart data, expert fighter pilots, misson failures, etc.

As an aside, my Chrome browser won't let me do the "capta" thing required to logon to the customer service site even thou I white listed the entire domain with Adblock. Had to bring up MS Edge and get logged on that way. I don't use Edge so don't have any extensions to cause problems.

They packed the skimmers with explosive armour, as players used to run over skimmers in their ship, land and collect the booty.
