I think it would be wise to remove the link.

Q. What about the free ROMs on the MAME site? Can I use those with my product?

A. Almost all of the free ROMs on the MAME site are licensed only for non- commercial use, and only for distribution from the MAME site. Just because they are available for "free" here does not grant further redistribution rights, nor does it allow you to treat them as "freebies" for commercial use.
(Emphasis mine)

I don't want you to get into trouble.

It's not MAME that's the problem. You can distribute MAME and its components as much as you like.

The problem is specifically the ROMS. They are copyrighted items and as such the MAME license only covers their download from the MAME site. Liqua's quote:

It contradicts itself ?

It's the ROMS that are in question, not the emulator.

(Thanks Selezen - I should have made that more clear)

I think it's really generous of you to download them (which you can do freely I agree), unpack, install and configure them up so they appear correctly which I assume is what you did, then upload them for others to save them the time and effort (which is the cause of the concern).

I do respect the excellent work you do so I don't want you to get into trouble - I have your back ;)

I echo Liqua's sentiments - it was a great gesture, and one that is long overdue because I know how much of a pain in the gluteus maximum it is to get the ROMS, check 'em, vet 'em then put them all somewhere safe.

Yep it's a shame that a lot of these old games are not avaliable to everyone legally.

Thanks for removing the link.:D
