My Bad-Asp now sounds like a sick W-Asp... :-(

Not long ago, I posted a thread about how my Asp was (for me) the best sounding ship in the game with it's bomber-plane-style roar whenever it turned and how it sent shivers while flying due to the raw power that the sound gave the impression of.

So, it seems that the Sound chappies at FD took that constructive criticism on board and made "changes"; I presume for health and safety reasons, to prevent spine-tingling pleasure-induced injuries. >_>

In any case, where I previously had the beefy gut-filled RAWR whenever screaming around space while bounty hunting, this has now been replaced with the slightly raspy and choked sound of a Diesel Citroen Picasso with a head gasket problem.

Needless to say, I am disappoint. :(

Not to mention the fact that I don't think my engines are actually even on when in SC mode.
It's eerily quiet when flying through systems.

I know it's space, but... yeah. :)

I don't usually have anything to complain about with game updates until I've had atleast a week or so to see if I can adapt to the changes, but I agree that the new Asp sounds are a real disapointment. Exploration just isn't the same now.

Honestly it sounded completely silly. The engine sound was something I completely wouldn't expect from a spaceship. Doesn't bother me they toned it down a bit as it was really over the top when turning.

Thought it was great as it was, i really enjoyed the sound and how it made the game immersive.

Now its just plain/dull, even station service menu buttons sounds strange.

Im hoping upcoming patches will revert the sound back what it was. Im currently not enjoying it so im staying out.

(Titanium HD X-fi already set to 48kHz and using head phones)

It was the sound of a Rolls Royce Merlin engine (as used in the WWII Spitfire fighters, Lancaster bombers and early Mosquito fighter/bombers.). You can't beat that sound.

Like god, gargling with nails.

I don't think they've changed the sounds much at all but they've definitely done something to the mixing. Everything is balanced a little bit differently than it was before, maybe so it sounds better on certain surround setups or something, I don't know. Some things sound better and some things sound worse, I figure they're going to keep tweaking it to find that "sweet spot" again.

It still is I switched to night mode in the sound settings.

I don't think anyone wanted it to sound like something from Star Trek, though, tbh.
The old sound was real, it was gutteral. Full charactered with something hinting at the raw power beneath it.
Not some silly sci-fi "space-whine"...

The dreaded balance of doom again! Heh

(FYI, I've never had any problem with general in-game mechanic balancing, though...)

The Sidewinder sounds cool and thats a spacey sound effect. The Cobra does too. The Asp just sounded like it was farting all over the place to me. It's still there. And if they changed it back I still wouldn't be bothered by it. It just sounds silly.

Each to their own, I suppose. :D

When I make a sharp turn in my asp it sounds like the wardrobe in the back moves across the room! I really should get out of the chair and check it out.
Anyone else heard the whales in hyperspace?
