Well she's whiskey in a teacup, she gives blondes a lousy name
She's a Bonzai Aphrodite and a ticket back to Spain
She's a hard way to go, and there ain't no way to stop
Every time you play the red the black is coming up...

Well my weekend crime spree didn't come to fruition. I did steal a good deal of Low Temp Diamonds on Friday in my Cobra Mk IV, but by Saturday I got so Viper-III crazy that I completely lost direction. I took this bad girl to the CZs, and fell so in love with her that I decided to visit some Engineers. Unfortunately I'm all out of nickel, so I'll have to go back and get the MCs upgraded soon.

I'm fairly convinced at this point that the Viper III is the best goddamn small fighter in the game.
Here's a pic of my Black Market Baby. Her name is Lucinda

Great story, Vindelanos. She's a lovely looking little killer. I haven't flown one in battle for ages, but this has made me consider dusting mine off...

Man, get yourself a PP upgrade. It will drop your power usage by 10-15%, then grab some heavy duty shield booster upgrades and Class 2 lasers.

Your Viper III will go from a capable combat vessel to a feared killer! :)

I was running one small MC and a seeker on her, but went with two small MCs in the end. Love this ship. If my Cobra III is my interceptor, my Viper and Eagle are the CZ runners, definitely. Last fight I was taking out Elite Condas like nobody's business.

And herein lies the true beauty of Elite Dangerous: no matter how many millions you make, no matter how much rank you acquire, no matter how many "big" ships you work your way up to, you can still find just as much fun flying a Viper, or a Sidey, or an Adder as any "end game" ship in the entire galaxy. I've never felt compelled to grind for any ship as I've had fun flying any and all the ships I've ever owned, right from the beginning.

Pretty much. With the exception of the T7, T9, vette, and cutter (assuming you don't count beta time), I've owned and flown them all. I've got a conda in the shipyard, right now. Despite that though, here I am flying the VIV. The ship could still really use some love (pitch buff PLEASE!), but with some heavy engineering, the thing is a blast to fly.

The viper 3 was the first ship I purchased in the game and it has always held a special place in my heart. I was garbage in combat but I used her for a fair bit of smuggling. Once I got into the bigger ships I never looked back, personal preference in playstyle. For the longest time I had one A rated sitting in Jameson Memorial but hardly ever took it out.

Then a friend of mine told me he was going to try out Elite Dangerous and that bounty hunting looked fun. I decided to go back to the viper so as to bring us more on an even level, but how to fit it. After testing out a few builds I tried railguns, which lead to my current insane build. My viper 3 now has 4 plasma slug railguns and a 14 ton fuel tank. But enhanced performance thrusters looked like so much fun... Long story short my viper runs ice cold and can outmanouver and outrun most ships in the game now, boosting up to 500 m/s on an empty tank (cause when the ammo is dry you got to flee), but its shields and hull are practically decorative. She's a joy to fly and completely took the end result was a ship completely opposite of what I had set out to make.

If I ever have that insane surplus of engineer materials again I might just try a similar build on a viper 4, just so that I could fit a cargo rack and once again go smuggling.
