My boost button isn't working again on my X52 pro

I had to unplug my x52 pro due to my first day at school(online college) and when I plugged my hotas back up, my pinkie and boost buttons weren't working. after messing around, I got my pinkie button working again, and unticked the clutch box in the game controller settings that was turning my boost button (the "i" button) into a profile mode switch lol. However, the boost button doesn't work anymore and I'm back to pressing "B" on my keyboard for boost. Anyone know how I can fix this?

There have always been problems between the buttons on the throttle and ED, where they seem to have a mind of their own. You assign one and it works. You assign another, then the other one stops working. Different people have different fixes. Those that use the complete x52 profiles software seem to get better results.

I'm now considering replacing my x52 pro hotas with a better one because of this. But there's so many to choose from. What would be the 'next step up' budget-wise, that would make a good replacement of the x52 pro? I know I can't afford it right now but I can budget my money and save up for the 'next step up'.

Are you plugging the x52 directly into the computer? If so, try using a powered hub in case it is a power issue.

Make a copy of your current binds file first. See the sticky at the top of this forum section for details.

Note that this will probably have the unfortunate side effect of ED no longer loading your .binds file due to the x52 receiving a different uid from Windows. Once you know the new uid you can simply do a search and replace on the old binds file to get it working again.

lol I just unplugged it to plug it into a powered 3.0 usb hub and it wouldn't work, so I plugged it into my powered 2.0 usb hub and it worked. But now, game controller settings won't boot up, and my pinkie button stopped working again....but I got a NEW problem now: the steering controls in game stopped working! My joystick controls work just fine in profile editor. I couldn't fly my ship back to the station so I had to log out with my ship in space, outside of the station. ...oh wow, my game controller settings window just popped up as I was typing all of this lol. This is annoying AF. anybody know of another hotas I can replace this with? I'm starting to like the x52 pro less and less.

Use Google to search the forum. There have been quite a few threads about this along with the fixes. Once setup proerly, it's a good HOTAS for ED. I never bothered setting mine up properly. I managed to get the pinkie switch working, but I never got the i buton to work, nor its rotational , and when I was first setting it up, buttons would come and go, depending on others that I had set. Since I got it mostly working, I've never touched anything.

I'm only using my X52 as a temporary measure because I upgraded to Virpil, which are leagues ahead - proper professional sticks; however, they're boxed up ready for my house move, which should have happened in October. Every week, it's next week, which is very frustrating, especially as the yaw spring on the X52 broke last week, like it did on my last set. This set was a free replacemnt because the other one was under waranty.

Here’s my tuppence worth.

I suppose you have checked that the HOTAS properties in the MDF tab, is unchecked.
When Elite launched I had to have the properties open for the HOTAS to work. Updating the drivers from Logitech reversed this and the “properties” need to be closed for the profile software to work. So if you have not done so, download them and install them.

Also the X52 Pro does not like USB 3.

Depending on the type of spring and how easy it is to get to you might be able to get an almost replacement from Amazon. When the spring went on my TM pedals I found a whole set of springs (for about USD 15 I think) and was able to get it working again in a couple of days.

It's a close wound torsion spring, like a keyring with two horns. I've never seen anything like that on ebay or Amazon. If I could find the right sized keyring and the ends are in the right place, I might be able to adapt one, or maybe make one out of piano wire. I need two now.
