Community Event / Creation My DIY Elite cockpit

Hi guys,
i post my work: i made a cockpit by recycling the PCB of an old PS/2.
Time ago I had already inserted a monitor under the glass desk, but now i have framed with a console of 40 keys
I can now play Elite without looking for the keys on the PC keyboard!

here a photo:

Hello there

I think you may need to make a couple of posts before the photo will attach (or it could just be my internet not being able to fetch it).

Welcome anyway!

That is quite an achievement ! +1 to you.

Umm ... how do you remember which key is which? And how did you wire up the keys to get them to interact with the game computer? They go through a processor of some kind?

I sacrificed an old PS/2 keyboard, replacing keys with buttons that i bought on internet.
It was enough to properly connect the pins of the old keyboard's PCB to the buttons, to close the circuit respecting the matrix of the keyboard.
They are virtually a replica of the keyboard. It is as if i had two keyboards: a USB and a PS/2 (with only few keys)

to remember which key is which i have printed a small icons:

That looks really cool Nevernat!
Getting rid of the keyboard to control the ships functions is key to an immersive experience :)
And doing it in style is a very nice bonus!
