My DK2 broke.

A couple of days ago my DK2 started freaking out. During gameplay (not just ED specific) my screen goes black, the service DOS box says: Display removed and the positional camera is off.

I can restart the service and it works but, in a few minutes is does the same thing again. I've tried everything I can think of, reinstalling EVERYTHING, changing ALL ports/displays and all that. Any ideas?

My guess the HDMI cable or USB cable is shot.
I'd start with changing the HDMI cable for a regular one.
If that works, buzz oculus and they'll send you a new one...
(Worked for me)

I had a similar issue with my first DK2. I had a break in the cable where it breaks out to Hdmi and usb at the headset end. I could move the cable slightly and induce a disconnect like you describe. Oculus stated each cable was calibrated to a headset and therefore they couldn't replace just the cable. They sent a replacement DK2 and I returned the first one.

I tried a different HDMI and it still cut out. I tried moving the plugs around and rearranging the wires a bit and it stayed on long enough to play without crashing (lost a Vulture yesterday) so I have to think it's either the USB cable(s) or that junction box thing.

I received a response from Oculus requesting a bunch of logs and the like so I reckon I'll be swapping emails with them for a week or two. At least they responded in less than 24 hours though.

Save some time by describing the problem and taking some photos of the cable and box.

I also had this issue, I went out and bought a slim HDMI cable and it works great now. Sorry you are still having issues. I also need to contact the manufacturer and get a replacement cable.

I am sorry for your loss. :(

I hope you can fix it soon.

Had the same issue as the OP, workaround was using my own HDMI cable, it would still disconnect and act strange at times. They sent me a new one within a week
