My DLC roadmap with personal rules

We have 1 dlc and two more supposed years of game support ( read 8 dlcs ) left.

I've decided to make here my desirable roadmap using established dlc rules (4+1 animals per pack). With one addition I'll talk about down the line.

Now my take that these remaining 9 dlc should accompany two expansion packs ( In this case rather than four, expansions would contain eight habitat animals).

Those two would be Aviary and Semi-Aquatic expansions. For the semi aquatic I ak actually 90% sure we're getting in some form or the another. Old game like Zt2 could make it work, why wouldn't Frontier be able to do the same ? I am of course talking about otters, seals and penguins, not full aquatic dolphins, manatees, sharks and other Sea World ...

For Aviary I do not saw them making full flight habitat animals, but rather placeable, pre-build, but customizable aviaries. They would be fine line between habitats and exhibits. Animals would move and make a noise, but wouldn't interact with surrounding as much as habitat ones. Now there are a LoT of must have birds, so here goes new rule I mentioned before being implemented. In this imaginary roadmap every dlc will have :

4 habitat species+1 exhibit species+ 2 aviary species

So here goes, first the two expansions

Semi-Aquatic expansion
(Contains long awaited diving animations for existing animals, bring new 8 animals to the table, along with little fish as ambient or effects)

-Sea Otter
-Amazon Giant Otter
-California Sea Lion
-Steller Sea Lion
-Harp Seal ( only for those white pups )
-Baikal Seal
-King Penguin
-Magellanic Penguin

Aviary Expansion
( I explained mechanics earlier, 8 staple aviary birds, from now on 2 birds per dlc, maybe adding raptors show ???)
-Scarlet Macaw
-Blue and Yellow Macaw
-Crested Coockatoo
-Budgerigar
-Indian Hornbill
-Golden Eagle
-Bald Eagle
-Erasian Eagle Owl

Now I tried to combine
-Most requested
-Most common
-Most diverse animals, with the touch of one personal favorites here and there, and also with having games like Zt2 in back of my mind

Are those DLCs ideas of Frontier Developments or someone else?

Seems to fit in here

EDIT: Ah no, because of the acompanied expansion packs it's a little different. Seems all pretty reasonable, although I miss some animals I personally prefer.

I'd really love to know what Frontier is working on now. I'm sure they already have started it, and I don't know what to expect. If they're sticking to continent based packs, it's probably either Europe or North America. But which!? And with the one year anniversary coming up, will we get something special?

Your aviary list is extremely limited. I also think the focus should be on 'big' birds rather than little ones like the budgie (which is also, you know, no more remarkable than a chicken in terms of recognisability). My personal aviary choices would be as follows:

  • Blue-and-gold macaw.
  • Sulphur-crested cockatoo.
  • African grey parrot.
  • Toco toucan.
  • Great hornbill.
  • Waldrapp ibis.
  • Eurasian eagle owl.
  • Steller's sea eagle.
  • Egyptian vulture.
  • Laughing kookaburra.

This, to me, is a good mix of iconic, endangered/protected, and unique birds. Of course this is only a list of ten - I could have added a few more. It's also based on what I believe is reasonable rather than my own personal wishes (hence why there's an obvious lack of New Zealand native fauna included). The only issue this list really faces is that there isn't currently an in-game biome well-suited to the sea eagle, except maybe taiga. If it had to be left out I suspect the bald eagle would be the obvious choice of replacement, but I'd prefer the African fish eagle, or even something like the osprey.

There's also the question of how they include aviaries. They can't include the feature as part of a lone DLC, because then you're faced with the issue of reintroducing the same feature to every DLC that includes birds after the fact (to accommodate those who didn't purchase the initial bird pack), so presumably it would come as part of a free update first (so that it's forced into your game, and then every pack that includes birds thereafter can fit seamlessly with this update). In other words, aviaries would have to be added to the base game via a patch rather than being included in paid DLC.

It's a tricky thing to consider, really.

Edit: I'm also of the opinion that an aquatic animal pack wouldn't need a full expansion. You can cover such a theme with only four habitat animals and a couple of building sets in the same way every DLC thus far as been done. And again, if underwater navigation is folded into a free update (which seems likely) then a lot of the "missed" animals can be added to other packs later.

For me:

- California sea lion.
- African penguin.
- Harbour seal.
- Southern sea otter.

Other animals, like the river otter especially, could be included as part of a European DLC, or an Asian DLC, or a North American DLC, or as part of a freshwater animals DLC, and so on.

Personally wouldn't end with a continent DLC.

Would end with the Endangered species, looks like more interesting one to end with.

And replace the continent one (australia) with something with more "cold weather" animals or maybe mountains.
And personally would try to add more habitat reptiles in some packs

Other than that, I like the list. (even if prefer some other species)

So after some helpful comments I went out and re-imagined this Roadmap. I think there's a (large) group of people, who really want smaller animals (and smaller habitats to accompany those) in PZ
So I'm going with yes !

Like the changes, would be very happy if they went this route.

Adding animals doesn't matter if they don't fix the base of the game. I will not buy any of the DLCs until building/pathing and the tedious micromanagement is looked at.

What's with the GIVE US with meerkats?

When the game was new there was a guy making signatures for people with their favourite animals on them.

Then I guess you won't ever be buying the DLC. The building and pathing systems are part of the Cobra Engine, which forms the game's base system. It was exactly the same in Planet Coaster.
