My eventual rise to a grade 5 FSD

I have been taking ED very slowly since engineers, for many reasons but the obvious has been the acquisition of mats for Engineers and their upgrades.

I always knew I wanted a grade 5 FSD upgrade from the off and I new I would be fitting it into my explorer Asp.

My old Asp build had a 32LY range, standard fare:

My upgraded one is slightly better:)

I am extremely happy with this and I look forward to exploring longer range in her, what other ranges have Asp owners got from grade 5 FSD upgrades?

Nice jump range!!, I have been out of ED for a while, gave a lot of money to an engineer to begin working in the FSD (half million), and began asking for a lot of materials impossible to find and just simply quit, bye engineers!!! see u in hell! LOL

They are pretty easy to find once you know how. They are not as random as people make out and there is some logic behind the madness.

Gathering the mats was not hard, you just need a combat ship a wake scanner and a flexible conscience. I enjoyed it. Saving up the mats for a second grade 5 FSD now in my Python:)

the return of the aspE ... the return of a cmdr tois aspE .... the... anyway - well done :)

you might to put out a short note "how to get a fsd5 range increase - explorers edition"?

The problem with that, as has been said elsewhere, is that if it is a requirement (rather than the choice you made) then FD are forcing a game style on people that may be against the way they want to play. I have no problem with needing to do combat to get mats you need to get combat oriented potions. Giving a pure explorer the choice between going pew-pew or not getting their upgrade is not a good move.

I cannot disagree with that. I am an Elite explorer not an Elite combateer, but I dont mind the pew-pew to get some of the mats as long as I can just stop it. I find it boring.
The fact that we still need to planetary farm is good, SRV hopping is more fun than killing scores of transporter ships:)

I didnt do any pew pew for my upgrades. Ok, i dont know about weapon upgrades, but that would be ironic to complain about the need to do pewpew to get better weapons :)

Very few people play with orbit lines off. I'm the one, OP also.
Really? I thought most people turned them off, or at the very least explorers. I only turn them back on if I want to go to specific orbits, which is quite rare. So, why do people keep them on? (Besides not noticing that they can be turned off.)

for ideal supercruise movement, in my case. and sometimes they make me look closer at the system map ... which body is now moving around which one?

also, they remind me of playing a computer game. and i like playing computer games.

And me. It just looks wrong, though it would be perfectly doable in a heads up display.

It should help on proximity to bodies. You should never bump into a star if you have those lines on.

Your jump range rose by 35.8%. My Asp saw a range rise of 45% (32.0->46.5 when the roll was made) with pretty much optimal roll. On another thead I raised a question about the roll ranges (see https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...e-modifications-and-RNG?p=4196144#post4196144) and it appears that several people have had problems with dud rolls. That considered, I think you should be pleased with those figures for the time being and reroll if you feel that you'd like to try to give a shot gaining 3 LY's extra. That's what you are going to get if you rolled like Allitnil with his Anaconda. Another thing is whether the material grind is worth the time investment.
