Ship Builds & Load Outs My first Anaconda, help with laser engineering

Yesterday I got my firs Anaconda. I figured I had enough to make a PvE armed cargo ship. I’m sure people will tell me I don’t need weapons on a cargo ship but I want to be able to shoot back. Even if I’m only shooting me while I run away waiting for FSD cool down.

I only have a few engineers unlocked at the moment. The Dweller is the only one that cans do lasers. My question is what would be appropriate engineering?

G4 long range or efficient Pulse turrets vs
G3 long range or efficient burst or beam turrets?

Given the horrible turning, even with the best dirty drives I can make, I don’t see being able to turn fast enough for forward only firing.

You should post your build using Coriolis to help with the discussion, as to the Conda I reckon its got decent agility for a large ship not quite as good as the Corvette but better than the T10/Cutter (all using engineered drives though).

If your have enough mats/data I'd suggest modding some pulse and burst turrets in efficient and long range and try them out (beams are great shield killers but even efficient ones will drain the wep cap real quick), I'm going to try some long range pulse myself and see if they're better than the efficient ones I use.

Also try and get Farseer unlocked as long range FSDs and grade 3 drive tuning will improve the Conda significantly, with my build the turrets are capable of taking up to Asp X size ships and stripping shields from larger ones and the cannons deal with the hull (PAs or MCs would work in place of cannons)

This is an interesting problem.

Let's say that you are just going to run from attacks mostly, and want to give your enemy a bloody nose. It used to be that mines were the best way to do this. Resonant Cascade mines completely burned up enemy shield generators, leaving them sitting ducks for any turreted weapons firing back.

But now, most pirates avoid mines.

There are a couple of mods for cannons that might be good to help escaping vessels.

Force Shells kick them off course, and mess up their fixed weapons targeting. Dispersal Field will mess up their gimballed weapons like chaff.

If you use Frag Cannon turrets, Screening Shells will kill incoming hatchbreaker limpets. That really messes with piracy.

You can get these from Tod The Blaster McFarlane, up to Grade 2, which is just fine for defensive applications.

Just stick a few cannon turrets with these mods on to cover your rear arcs.
