My first Anaconda!

She is lovely. My favourite feature is the snorting jets on her nose. I also love seeing my guns rise out of the bonnet.

Anyone know where I can get any type 8 kit? Got myself some miltary armour and various type 6 things but really want to see a plasma accelerator on there before eveything gets wiped!

Watch out for me when I'm docking!!

It's been mentioned that the Class 8 can be found at IBootis Chango, but it's rarely there.

there's a couple of stations where the plasma cannon shows up from time to time. I tried it for a while and honestly, for as long as we're likely to be spending most of our trigger pulls shooting at smaller faster ships, that thing is useless. I ended up ditching it and putting another laser on that mount.

As for watching out when docking I think I'm gonna rename my long-nosed anaconda the "Pool Cue" based on how many little ships I've potted into the side of the station with that long 'conda-snoot when they thought they could dispute right of way!

Thannks for the info. Will keep an eye out at I Bootis as I would like to give it a go. Perhaps it will be rather unwieldy but gotta try at least once!

When I knock people out of the way I always feel like some big lout headbutting people as I walk into a club. Maybe that says something about me!

I went to the combat zone in Eranin and had the misfortune to find a CMDR in an Anaconda on the other side.

He was wiping out all of us poor federation folk. I managed to take a couple rings of his Anaconda down, but I simply couldn't stay anywhere near him without getting a serious slap

I did manage to annoy him enough so he followed me 30-40km away from the core battle so I circled around him and returned to the battle to kill 3-4 Eranin scum.... but as soon as he reappeared on my scanner's furtherest reach, I decided it was then time to leave!

Congrats on your new ship. I am looking forward to the day when i can upgrade to the big ships, but I will probably be doing this in General Release.

Trying to help the Beta testing without doing too much of the game.

Congrats on your new ship! It is a lovely beast even though it can be like an elephant on roller skates in combat  :D

Not sure whether this is a new feature because it's the first time I've taken hull damage since I've had my Ana - and that's been a few weeks - but last night I got rammed by another NPC Anaconda (accident?? court's out on this because I was trying to follow/out manoeuver him). I was reduced to 83% hull and started to see smoke/sparks etc in several places outside just in front and to left of the bridge.

This continued until I was able to dock. All modules were still at 100% though. I wondered if I could see anything, so before I repaired the ship I took her to the Outfitting Bay, and I could see two places where the hull plates and some piping were damaged, and the sparks/fires were still going. Fantastic! It cost me about 23,000+ IIRC to repair, but it was worth it just to see it :D

ED continues to impress me

I found the same when I had a 'conda in PB. I'm trying to work back up to one now.
The only thing I would say about the plasma cannon is that at some stage there's bound to be some missions etc that will require taking on big ships. I wonder if that might be in the activity that is being guessed about starting on the 20th with Federation vs Eranin action. If this does happen then you might wish to have that plasma cannon on board. If not, then it's pretty much a waste of space and money :)

I would second the comment that the C8 plasma accelerator is a waste right now. its firing reticule is under your nose so good luck with hitting anything smaller than a T9. I would stick a turret or a gimbal weapon down there.

I sold my ana as the repair bills are just insane for the paltry credits you earn in Eranin and Dahan. Come release though, with rewards based on rating, it will be a different story. Oh, and once the chuffing turret bugs are fixed, the ana will be more capable of defending herself from butt shots from vipers.

Grats for your new, shiny ship :D. I just hope that in time of writing this reply it is not smashed/fragged already.

I am looking for the full release to aim for this one also, but at this moment I am rather trying to crash some sidies in uncommon situations. (like hitting into navigation beacon in full boost :D)...

Very happy to hear you brought your Anaconda. Especially the fact you enjoy seeing your guns rise from the "bonnet" :D

I'm going to be joining beta by night Friday, I am also looking forward to many things myself, all of which will be a first. I hope you don't scratch the paint work jefc_uk squeezing it through the letter box. ;)

Tell me... In the 34th century do you still get call from solicitors asking if you hurt your neck?

LOL! My neck was the last thing I was thinking about when it was heading straight at me under full steam (?)

I also agree regarding the Plasma Cannon, but to be honest considering the hassle I went through to get one, and the fact that I don't really need to replace it as the rest of the armoury seems to do the trick, I've decided to hang onto mine. I have had 2 kills, and numerous crippling hits with it though. Wish I'd had the initiative to use it at that charging Ana!

I think I picked mine up at LHS 3262.

Deifnitely still want to give it a go pre-wipe. I'll probably just buy it, fire it a few times and laugh and then sell it again.

The other thing my Anaconda has made me realise (and I know this has been discussed at length elsewhere) is that I'd love to be able to see it from outside. Good not to break immersion, so wouldn't be keen on having a contrived 'fake' external cam, but would be cool to be able buy a drone or something. Maybe something that's used for exploration or mining could be unoffically appropriated for self-congratulatory fly-by filming.

Oh yeah and I see lots of people expressing concern about the difficulty of docking an Anaconda and it doesn't seem to tough to me. Didn't seem too hard in the Type-9 either. I get the odd scuff, granted, but the beast doesn't seem to mind!

If the plasma cannon made a decently satisfying "fzZZZZT" or made a Doom2 shotgun reload sound, or......something. I've had spud guns that made a meatier sound. for a game with amazing sounds, the C8 Plasma is pants.

As for docking. Once you figure the cockpit position its easy.

... And I bet you've already scratched the paintwork! ;) Damn thing just WILL NOT go through the letterbox unless you feel the desperate need to duck!
You can get a plasma accellerator at LHS 3262, but I think you'll be disappointed. There's no flash of light, no "PEWPEW!" noise, and it's virtually impossible to hit anything smaller than an Anaconda with it.

But congratulations!

(During a driving lesson many years ago)...
My Dad: "Who has the right of way?"
Me: "Umm, whoever gets to the intersection first."
My Dad: "No, whoever the other [redacted] decides to give it to!"

I learned a lot about driving from my Dad. :D
