Newcomer / Intro My first attempt at bounty hunting (pvp)

Hi, so, i managed to find some pvp. near Leesti.

please bear in mind i've only been playing 2 weeks.

many mistakes were made on my part as you will see if you check out the vid link.

I spotted a wanted FDL roaming the system. he was not in wing at the time. so i interdicted him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIwvDT8OdnI&feature=youtu.be

now i know i should have run when the clipper turned up, but i did not notice that he was in wing. by the time i clocked on. it was too late.

I was using this

[Vulture]

my main problem i think is that the SCB is set to prio 2. meaning i have to retract hardpoints and wait a short time to use it. While this is fine for pve. It clearly is not ok for pvp. especialy when u are getting ganked.

Can anyone help me with a vulture fit that allows the SCB to be used prio 1 pls?

I would also appreciates tips and comments based on the video footage.

thanks in advance.

Would ditch Hull reinforcement ... Fsd set to priority 2?? Get another shield cell bank. Leave it off till other is empty.... Should have enough power for that , priority 1....? Kws off , wake scanner both off til needed ?? Just watched vid.... Should of 4 pips to engines and boosted away soon as shields got low...FSD out as soon as poss.... You had no chance.... No need to waste time selecting a destination...just hit J and keep boosting.....

I would say that you have a A class FSD which is not really necessary for bounty hunting and class C sensors which I would upgrade.

Class A FSDs are for long range jumping and won't provide any benefit in a one on one fight. Sensors are important so that you have maximum range on your scanner and some people say they affect gimble accuracy but I don't think that's ever been confirmed to my knowledge.

The moment that Clipper jumped in you should have stowed your hardpoints, put 2 pips to shields and 4 to engines and got the hell out of that situation. It wasn't even really marginal whether or not you'd win against an FdL with a Master pilot. It was a certain death when the Clipper joined in, especially as both ships are faster than the Vulture.

"Should have" doesn't really help apart from highlighting the mistake, which was taking on an unequal fight - the Fer de Lance has 4 medium hardpoints and a huge one; it's a more expensive and more powerful ship that you should be very wary of if it's piloted by a CMDR. The Vulture is good, but the basic principle of combat always applies: make sure you have the advantage before you engage.

That includes checking if he's in a wing!

aye, i will take this into account thanks.

i equipped the A grade FSD to get to leesti from maridal. i guess i dont need it anymore tho.

Also i think i need to find some like minded bounty hunters. sure i made several mistakes however if the numbers were even im sure i would have done better.

You learned a very good lesson. The Vulture is a great ship, but has some flaws that you must account for. Just as every ship in the game, which is think is a great design.

Down grade thrusters, FSD, and sensors to D class to save weight. The difference in speed is not significant, but the power saved is! Turn off cargo hatch power too. Also, prioritize the interdiction and wake scanners to a lower priority. This should allow you to use SCB

As the others said you where outnumbered and proberly wouldn't have a chance alone anyway, however I noticed that you also didn't got out of SC behind the FDL?
And your first mistake as I see it is that when you turn around to go head on with the FDL you boost toward him... Your volture is much more agile than the FDL, so don't boost toward him just fly at max speed and as you aproach him reduce speed to middle blue zone and turn right on his tale and keep him there. If you had manage to get his shield down, with your large weapons, he might would have backed out for a while, giving you enough time to boost out of range to recharge your SC and excape... (I'm not 100% sure but I think it's only the FDL who has enough mass to masslock your ship)

Leave the fsd on as it's power isn't used in combat so everyone mentioning this is wrong in that respect. The only thing it could have an impact on is it's weight which would affect your thrusters and maneuverability but in a vulture this is also a moot point.

You shouldn't escape in to sc you should jump to another system to negate the mass lock and you would jump faster (I personally view this as a broken game mechanic but as it's in the game people use it. Next time go to nav panel, scroll to farthest system then jump to there (this is where the bigger fsd comes in handy incase they had a wake scanner but a shorter jump range than you).

Hull reinforcements aren't really needed as armor doesn't cover your subsystems (which was how you died).

This build will allow you to use a shield cell in combat :

hmm well. just had a 1on1 versus another vulture. in the fit i first posted. i won but i didnt kill him i elt him go becuase there was no point in killing him. i guess i also felt that it was an unfair victory as he complained that i rammed him. Thiose military bulkheads changed the fight.

It was v close anyway but we basically cahrged at each other and collided. i didnt intentionally ram him but could pull away in time.

anyway he dropped to like 40% hull. i took a few more shots getting him down to like 20% and which point he deagressed knowing he'd lost.

instead of going for the kill i let him go.

im kicking myself now that i didnt record the fight but at least my fit is viable in a fair situation.

Ramming in a fight is 100% legit and pretty much the only reason to add military bulkheads over the standard ones.

If you're in a vulture get used to slamming pips to shields and boost ramming opponents.

BTW there will rarely be a "fair" situation in elite so get used to it :D
