my first ED whinge. (interested to hear others thoughts)

im usually the first to FD's defence as a bit of a self proclaimed fanboy, but one feature particually is annoying the hell out of me , and id be interested to hear if its affecting/annoying others

trying to talk to a a friend of mine using in game comms. half the time i cant hear him as the audio constantly fades in and out. half the time its got the annoying overlay which is meant to make it sound realistic, othertimes its too loud for the audio

before you ask, yes we've both checked microphone and headset/speaker settings in game and in windows . its find if you use them outside the game. the audio in game just doesnt seem very good.

anyone got any thoughts? (ive tried to make this post as constructive as possible, dont want another "i cant play the game, throw toys out of pram" etc.." because frankly i can, this would just be "nice" thats all

My mate and I have a constant problem with in-game comms so we need to go third party. He can hear me talking, but I can't hear him. In love with this game but FD released a buggy, buggy, nearly broken game.

sorry, i shall try to be less constructive in the future :). is this any better>? - "wah wah wah i love COD, ED has no storyline i have to use my imagination, its full of bugs and shouldnt have ever been released until 2034, frontier took my KS money and lied to me about everything in my life ever"

in seriousness i love this game, id just like it better if i could use the in game audio properly. im happy to accept if its something we're doing, but i dont think it is.

Lol , indeed. You still forgot to start with, "So.." therefore no rep yet hehehehe.

Serious now, we have tried the coms loads of times and failed miserably all of them. We just use ventrillo instead tbh , much more reliable.

My understanding is that they made it sound like single-side band on purpose, for ambiance. It's supposed to be that way, and if you want perfect comms that's very easy with 3rd party apps. Personally, I think the crackly comms are kind of cool.

i get that they want to sound authentic, but theres a line between authentic, and audiable! as others have suggested i think ill go with a third party, probably teamspeak or ventrillo

I would use vent or TeamSpeak

the one feature I would like is to not have to write down a system name when I am flipping between various views or in my notebook for later come backs

I've not had much luck with it either. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Most annoying thing about it though is how it works. It's always on but with a mute toggle rather than how most other voip works with a push to talk button.

I expect it'll get a big overhaul when they do the wings update.

The ship's computer voice does that frequently also. I can't understand why when she's speaking, it's somewhat quiet at one point, but kinda loud at another point. Very weird.

I can't help either, I don't yet have any (RL) friends playing to talk to.

2 expected into the game soon(ish) but we'll probably wait for Wings to try out working together.
