My first evening in standard Beta...

So here we are :)
Took a while to get in, but once I was in, the performance was flawless (UK).
I played for around 90 mins using the DK2, which also performed perfectly ( with the workaround)

Things that blew my mind...

Graphically things have been bumped up. This was especially noticeable in the single player mission with regard to the asteroid rendering. The Suns are also pretty sweet looking now, though I wouldn't want to get too close to one of those flairs!

I got stopped by an Eagle during a cruise and I had to kill him. Once I did the bounty appears in your missions tab, waiting to be collected when you land.

I also took a mission to bring a crop harvester to the Erinin system, which was cool.

By far the most impressive thing was the comms though... I tried the voice comms when I saw a random ship also in super cruise. I enabled the voice comms and asked if he could hear me? He started typing back, so I wasn't sure if he could hear me... Then he enabled his voice comms and we chatted! wow! Just wow! He even sounded like he was in another ship!

So there I am, flying through space IN my sidewinder, chatting with another commander who I can see flying in front of me...
The level of immersion now is truly mind blowing!
I'm ten years old again, but this time I don't even have to pretend... The DK2 actually takes me there :p

Needless to say, I am very impressed and can't wait to log a good few hours in the morning.

Ps. The new boost sound effect is also extremely cool!

It said in the newsletter you'll be able to buy the paint jobs from the website at some point. The paint job option seems to be in the outfitting screens, so when you purchase a paint job with real cash it'll be available for you to attach.

I thought so initially but TBH, ship computer only thought I was speaking to her once during the whole conversation.

Hi SlackR, I'm waiting on my DK2 also.
Did you get to try ED in the DK1, what are your thoughts about comparison?

I have just been flying around in the rift and they have allowed the resolution to downsample from 1920 x 1080 again. It is looking much better, can only imagine what it will be looking like for you in DK2! :D

Me too, only the Eagle was scanning me so I opened fire only to have a bounty placed on my head :eek: Guess I was a little bit trigger happy. Of course I dispatch this sucker easily but then a minute after I get stopped by system security in a Viper. "Criminal!" he yells and opens fire. I just hightailed it out of there because I don't know the ramifications of being a cop killer :rolleyes: Eventful first day playing.

Awesome! Being able to randomly speak to someone is great!

Work from home but I have real work to do before going on holiday on the weekend! Busting to have a real play tonight!

I suggest prefixing any recorded command with a keyword, for example,
- "Ship: ..."
- "Computer: ..."
- "Sudo: ..."

Player1 'hey mate hows it going'
Player2 'Good I suppose but I lost so much time off work because of late nights sleeping in and sick days I got FIRED from work'
Player1 Ships Computer 'UNDER ATTACK..'

Had my first steps early this morning into the game and have to say how incredibly immersive the game is. I've really enjoyed getting to grips with everything and been pleasantly surprised at my own competency. I'm lucky enough to already have a trackir and a decent joystick which makes things feel much better. Graphics, sound, and level of detail are all fabulous. I'm so glad that I bought into the Beta.

Loving it.

I got into the game relatively quickly last night.

My first foray into Hyperspace ended up at Dahan with a "WOW, look at that sun!"

Getting out of supercruise was a problem because the key had changed to J, and that took a while before someone told me what to do. Then I timed out on requesting docking permission a couple of times. Kept repeating the request until the server crashed and I was kicked out of the game and ONLINE was red.

By that time it was midnight so I went to bed!

I couldn't get into the online game for a long time last night so I jumped into the SP scenarios..

first WOW moment... Rippling shields.. WOW.

The planets - WOW

In SC I saw an unknown contact shoot past me... then I got interdicted
