My first expedition, what a trip!

I just finished my first expedition to the Orion nebula (originally i wanted to explore Orion then come home but ... well you will see why that didn't happen).

First off this trip was not about scanning systems and making bank, although I did manage to tag a few systems on my way home so that's just a bonus :)

First shot looking back towards home as I hopped further and further away:

Moving towards the witch head nebula with Orion nebula, Barnards loop and Flame nebula in the background:

Up close with the witch head nebula:
I finally learned how to take shoots outside of the ship :) :

Turning to Orion nebula with Bernards loop surrounding my destination:

Quick rest stop to repair damaged modules and have a play around with the SRV :

Looking back to where I came from:

Looking out further into the unknown:

Where to go? what to do? The plan was simple to start with, go to Orion nebula and do touristy stuff then come home. But a little voice in the back of my mind piped up and said "look at that red thingy, isn't it pretty!" so off i went into Barnards loop:

Then onto horse head:

I then decided that rather going back through all of those nebulas, I would jump behind horse head then travel well up and back over the top and this was the result:

One last look back before starting my journey home:

All in all my first trip out into the unknown was breathtaking and unforgettable.

Some beautiful shots there. Orion is still on of my favourite places visually speaking !

If you feel like going a bit further away, Eta Carina via the Statue of Liberty is worth a trip ! You can start from Shapley 1, and head out toward the NGC 4463 stellar-forge and so on :)
There's also a few ejecta nebulaes through the trip that are worth a visit, if you catch them ;)

On a side note, I'd just like to point out that all your photobucket links are dead.

Enjoy your 'sploring, cmdr, and fly safe o7 !

Some nice (panorama) pictures! I like especially those from behind the horsehead. Must indeed have been quite a trip :).

Fly safe,
CMDR Jermus
