My first exploration trip ... I made it back in one piece :)

Well, after setting out just to do some simple exploration, I'm back ... a month later.

I'd not gone far (maybe 750LY out from civilisation as I only play maybe 6 hours max a week), but I've now caught the bug.

I'm now 2.3MCr better off, up to Trailblazer and I've a stack of "Discovered by" tags with my name on them (which was my primary goal) :D

Next time I head out (which I'm sure won't be long), I'll be more prepared ... but my trusty Viper did a fine job. I even bagged a few bounties in the Badlands !!

Viper? Respect. Wait until after 1.2 has done its thing so we can all see what the NPC wing frequency is like. I am going out to the rim again, as its fun after the 500LY yahoo territory.

Ah yes, the Viper ... well, as I said, I only planned on dipping my toe in the water (and couldn't be bothered to buy any new), but ended up having such fun.

I think this is about what I was running.

I was doing "economical" route planning (which takes you via "KGB FOAM" / "FOG KBAM" systems), making sure I scoop at every star.

That may be the reason I've bagged quite a few "discovered by" tags ... I was just picking random (non-tourist) systems and stopping off at each star.

The only downside was coming home ... the badlands seemed to take *ages* to get through (I was interdicted by a Dangerous Dropship and a Deadly Python ... ... boost, boost, boost !!)

And when I got back to civilisation, I had completely forgotten how to dock too, which was quite scary !!

Great job. Never thought of the Viper in that role before. I explore using the common Cobra but hope to earn enough to get the Asp because of th4e longer jump range. Did look at the FDL, well that was before I found out the jump range. Still it is a nice looking ship, just not an explorers craft.

Welcome back.
My Asp spontaneously destructed itself today while plotting a route when 45ly from Sag A*, so really, well done.

  I'm really sorry to hear that Dommarraa! btw, what was it like to suddenly find yourself back at the last station you were docked at?

I think I'd find that really weird.
