My First Impressions

The game has so far been quite rough to me with pirates roflstomping me over and over again.
Four Cobras against that cheap Sidewinder of mine? I mean, yeah, it's realistic as I'm just one guy in the universe and the universe does not wait for me to catch up with the ship. But.. maaan... :)
[PS: don't change it!]

when I press the "Go to hangar" button it takes me to it, but after some moments it gets me back to surface. Has anyone experienced that? I've seen that it is kinda on the list of fixed bugs of the Alpha 4.0

I say kinda becaue it hasn't prevent me from undocking. Should I report it?

Yeah, they told us to report anything that is supposedly fixed.

Don't wait to say hi, as soon as you get interdicted point your ship as far away from the blips on the radar as possible, stick full power to engines and run until you can get back into supercruise!

Sounds reasonable. Man, I have so much to get a grip on... it's just, wow, somehow this game opens so many possibilies I feel lost and dumb sometimes. This one of the very very few games I have respect and feel "shy".

You are not alone. I spent a couple of hours this morning setting up my HOTAS/Pedals/VoiceAttack/TrackIR, all the while wondering if I'm getting in over my head. I played a few hours of 1.1 and got where I could beat the 3rd mission pretty consistently. I come back to it today and the greenhorn in the second mission starts kicking my but. Talk about embarrassing (hangs head in shame). I think I'm in for a lot of practice sessions over the week end. I'm so happy that ED is by design challenging and not an arcade shooter.

So, my first landing was with a freeze with necessity to hard reset just before I came. Second landing was with station going crazy and finding myself below the station floor following the great explosion. I had multiple other crashes in most inconvenient time, but overall I am happy as hell :D

Stations like me and I like stations...

Notice the small landing pad indicator of the Sidewinder at the far right :D

Spoiled ^^

However I still get killed as soon as I reach a destination (or even before).

Some minutes ago I chose the wrong side in a conflict and immediately got gibbed by two players that thought I was more interesting than the other 20 or so ships.

I quit for today because just travelling to get killed takes too much of my time. There are currently other things I can do that are more... satisfying. Meh.

I've made 450 credits so far... trading grain, fish and computer components. Been interdicted a few times, mostly by security patrols. Except for that Lacon that opened fire on my unprovoked. Took a bit of hull damage but managed to scarper to supercruise.

One thing about the sound: what the hell happened to the bass???

Well, my trading incompetence has not deserted me after all these years. I've made one trade run so far, got to mess about with Supercruise - that's gonna take me a while to get the hang of - but finally found where I was supposed to be going. No pirates, NPC or otherwise, bothered me on the way and thoroughly enjoyed pressing the wrong keys for the right things or the right keys for the wrong things along the way. Didn't crash on landing and rubbed my sweaty palms together at the thought of the tens of extra credits I'd now be 'earning' from the run.

But looks like I'm set to make a loss. Ho Hum. Methinks I should have though about my destination a little more. Oh well, let's try another station then, if this lot are too snooty for my lowly 4 tons of cotton...

Hm, yeah, I was unsure but thought the station's entry forcefield sounded different in the alpha videos. However, these youtube clips always sound different, even from each other.

Would be interesting to ask the alpha people if the sound changed.

IMHO bass is needed to convey substance and mass, would be a shame if they highpass filtered something :( Loved the rumble!
