This is the 2nd time I've died in this game, the first time honestly wasn't so bad. It was early on, I was bounty hunting in a sidewinder when a system authority vessel collided with me at full speed very suddenly and I exploded. Ship insurance was only like 2k at the time so I didn't mind.
But there I was, face to face with an Anaconda, I had read the stories, I read the do's and don'ts here, and there was one of the "don'ts" that I wasn't thinking about. Don't let the Conda point directly at you, was my grave mistake.
I had took down these bad boys a few times before in my Cobra, but this new one was an assassination contract, and the Anaconda was an Elite. I targeted his power plant subsystem right off the bat, used all my hardpoints, both energy and kinetic to wipe his monstrous shields down. I only usually use my lasers on smaller ships because I know the multicannons aren't very effective, but I didn't really have any time to let this guy murder me. I believe my 2nd biggest mistake was being underneath the Conda, where all his turrets were zapping away at my shields. But in my experience it seemed the underbelly was the weakest point of any ship. We did 360's around eachother before I finally miscalculated when to hit my shield recharger and they went off line. I boosted away to go heal up, unfortunately when I was ready to turn around, I was face to face with him at 2 - 3km, I remembered that "no no" at the last minute, when I hit my vertical thrusters but it was too late.
At that moment, that plasma accelerator blasted through my ship, stripping my shields and disabling my engines. So there I was, rotating endlessly through space, over and over again. I assumed my engines would kick back on again, because they've been temporarily disabled in the past and functionality returned. Nothing happened for a minute, I checked my subsystems pane and found that my engine health was at 0. Meanwhile the Conda is still throwing rockets and lasers, battering me to a pulp.
But there was hope, or so I thought, when I hit my frame shift drive and I heard the comforting, "Frame shift drive charging". I thought, "Yes! I'm saved!" Until I read, "throttle up to engage". So I did... except nothing was happening.
So I accepted my fate.. although with an angry grimace on my face the entire time, I was so mad watching my ship rotate endlessly while the Conda blew away every last bit of me. I was so mad I turned it off and didn't come back online for a week. But, thats how the game works.
Then I had to pay 260,000 for ship insurance. Which isn't bad compared to how others here have lost some fortunes in larger trading ships
