I've been back for a week, but I figured my crew needed a bit of a break after subjecting them to an unannounced expedition (FYI: never test an AFMU at relativistic speeds, unless you enjoy an earful from your engineer). All that I really wanted to do was conquer my fear of black holes; I remember reading about Cygnus X-1 when I was a kid, in a story about a kid who lost his bagged lunch to that singularity, and it terrified me.
So what better way to conquer said fear than to launch myself thousands of light years from civilization towards one? I knew you'd all understand!
But somewhere along the way I was bit by the "I need my name on this" bug. So what started as a simple plan of heading in a straight line, turned into a few detours, and a lot of self indulgent screenshots.
Herein lies my journey. I figure linking the album would be less obscene than 29 spoiler links to images.
A few of the high points: 1st neutron star, 1st ELW, a water world (with an argon atmosphere), a 100% metal planet, visits to the Crescent and Bubble nebulae, and some glorious multi-star systems (including one of many T-Tauri type proto stars).
All in all, it was a lucrative first voyage, netting me 9.5M. Next steps: avert a galactic medical crisis or two, and save up for an exploration Python so I can try to get to Cygni X-3.
