Yes I am well aware its only a few hrs work to make back what you lost if you count your whole income.
The point I was trying to make, albeit badly, was you would make the profit on 500t anyway if you had shields, and the chances are you would not die. So if you discount the first 500t if you are flying without shields you will only make an extra 32t of profit (75k ish per run) and run the risk of loosing (ins+cargo) mill. That risk means if you die before you complete ((ins+cargo)/75000) runs then you are out of pocket compared to running with shields. My attention span is not that great when trading so for me it was too great a risk when I was building up cash, now I am in the last few hundred mill to get get elite I have chosen to go commando again as my main focus now is profit made.
But its each to their own, so long as you can cover your losses handle the pain
Of course if have outstanding concentration you manage to not die at all then you make a fair bit extra going commando.

And my concentration is not that great actually, I tend to read some online mangas and watch tv shows at the same time... I guess I need that extra risk to keep things interesting
