Horizons My First Trip to Our Solar System

Sorry, if this a forum infringement but I'm combining topics here....(Because it's faster and more efficient way for me to post here!)

I finally decided to fly my ship to the Solar system for the first time ever & I was surprised how short my trip was considering it once supposed to be long journey that required more planning. Plotting a course on the big Navi-map.

Has the long distance, the awkward run around of plotting a course that would get me there...has that been nerfed to make it easier for the newbies and myself who hasn't played for months.

Maybe it's the rotation of the galaxy that has caused system to align themselves making my journey much easier to plot.

Did I just slowly make my way to the spot (Over this lengthy period of time, since it's first been possible to fly there in game!) where I was close enough to get there in less than fifteen jumps?

Well, I had been in a quadrant of the galaxy that I forget any part of right now. Yet, it was from there I made something like a 15 jump trip to Capricornia (I forget the last part of that system or series of systems starting with that name!) to help with a community quest or mission and it was from that place I decided to make my way to our real system.

Not the home of myself in this game (As I do use my own name for my Commander!) & I'm from the founders world, BTW!

I recorded the whole journey, made it as far as exploring the planets of Pluto, & Uranus & their moons before I ran of HD space to record any more. I'm sure this all old news by now, but big news fro myself. I continued to explore by heading straight for our sun & yes, nothing special there. Then Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Capital Ship battle. Where I flew inside the thing & got stuck there. is that some glitch (Same thing I notice if you run if miss the entrance of space station and hit one of the facilities around it!) or is that part of it magnetized. I noticed another ship stuck there as well. I tried several ways, to get out. Before taking the self-destruct option.

I was unhappy about that, because I had been collecting canister's from some of the zones around our system. I thought, I had some rare gear & still not sure about collection of strange emissions (Another new feature introduced since I haven't payed for a while...) I had found.

Now, I thought seeing the Mars (I think I found those cannels now filled with water or whatever...) had been terraformed so far that it look a lot like Earth from a certain distance & that Venus looks like a pink desert world. You know, I read this in book I had been given by my parents when I was young. It's three books (They are combined into one linked here). It's article based on a theory of Carl Sagan that Venus could be terra-formed for colonisation if they induce lots of rain to cool it down enough for the introduction of plant life that would eventually make the air breathable for life as we know it. Not sure about the other factor that this not being natural occurance on Venus. Could be very a good reason why it just isn't as inhabitable as our Earth. As far as I know, it's very hot, too hot & there is strong acid rain. Don't quote me on that. I believe I read this on page 59 of The Big Bumper Usbourne - Book of the Future in the section titled The Big Rain under the heading of -new Worlds Colonising other worlds. Of course, this is only Carl Sagan speculation & it was dismissed. Although, it got my hopes up when I read this in the school library while I was still in my pre-teens.

Anyway, this was my reason for my shock that this world was overlooked for this terraforming in favour of Mars. I thought it would be the other way around, but I guess that's just creativity on part of Frontier Developments Science team. I guess the unexpected is more interesting here....

I also thought Mercury was black.

I still haven't checked out, Jupiter & had some clue that Saturn wasn't the only heavenly body with rings.....

Right now, The only other things I can remember is that why can't the decal be coloured in such a way that they stand out more. I have recently gone back to flying my Cobra Mark Three & changed it's coat from Dark Crimson to Polar White (According to what I recall of those colour names!) simply because that colour best suits the one choice of colour for the decals. Sometimes the pattern/colour doesn't allow all of them to stand out so well.

I also want more room to put more stuff (Bobble-heads, The kiddie-Alphabet letters & Numerals & other stuff that could fit there...) on my ships dashboard top. Maybe this cold be another outfitting. I like more room to right something like a motto or some thing like......right on commander! I managed to get Right On! & decided to change that to hartwell (My family name & my Commander's as well!). As it was, I had put the male commander bobble-head on the extreme left & the female commander one on the right. They can hardly be seen, because of the lack of lighting there. So, a little more lighting on the dash might be in order, if that is found too distracting. Maybe if they glowed slightly.

About the Alphabet Letters & Numerals. I would like to see different variants of that. Not just the dashboard equivalent of those magnetic letters & numbers young children would playfully use on fridges and those metal white-boards.....

A choice of colour or just one colour that is easily seen would be better for me. As it is, I can just see hartwe. While the LL's are this dark blue colour that stay hidden. Something like this.....

Shouldn't Elite-Dangerous have it's own font by now?

Lastly, the Galaxy/local system map.....would be much better as a large see-thru (I forget that word that means the same..) holo-that appears over the dashboard. So you can still see where your flying while your plotting your course (If you do it that way!) mid-flight either in real space or in super-cruise Just imagine seeing you ship's marker move from system to system Indiana Jones style. More entertaining that way!

Minus the second person view of the actual plane flying through clouds. Something like that red line moving from system to system.

That's all I got for now!

I see nobody is biting & I did forget to add.

Why do a number of contacts, they're now pictured look really ghastly pale. I'm assuming they live on space stations that don't see much sun light or even get artificial UV rays....

Or part of Secretive Thargoid cult where they are forced to become living hosts for their children.

If that's the case, I shall be careful, who I take missions from.

If you modify the color of your HUD your contacts will look like zombies. Which is OK, because the FDev "Monkey Puke Orange" color scheme is liked by NOBODY.

The rotation of the galaxy does not affect interstellar distances. While planets and moons revolve in real time, the galactic stars stay static as far as the E:D engine is concerned. No big deal, the galactic interstellar distances won't change much in our lifetime.

You say Sol got closer because it is less than 15 jumps.....maybe you are flying a ship with better jump range?

Mercury is only black on the dark side. Kinda like the moon, and the Earth, and Jupiter, and every other orbital body that has a half which doesn't face a light source like the sun. ;)

I haven't modified my HUD yet, ever!

I've gotten quite used to the Monkey-Puke-Orange scheme & have come to prefer it now. Don't like the purple colour scheme at all & might be more interested the blue colour scheme if it was more electric.....more glowy & not dull!

Do they have each colour from the rainbow spectrum?

Is there a white colour scheme, to give homage of the original game.

When I commented about my ghoulish looking contacts, I tried to find some examples in Elite-Dangerous Horizons Engineers images to show you what I thought looked odd for complexion. Even stuck out in the artificial confines of space away from the effects of normal radiation. Aside from the fact they aren't photo-real looking.....

Maybe they opt for face paint that does this or they're cyborgs?

Like the Synths from Fallout Four!

Show me a picture of the regular contacts & then show me what you mean by zombafied when a different HUD colour scheme is taken.

I also noticed that they are all the same contacts no matter which station I visit there. Now, assuming they they're exact location in that system...perhaps. Assuming that, maybe I wouldn't need to dock to contact them. Providing there was collecting/handing over. Other wise, I like to find different inter system contacts through out he same system. Unless they're clones passing themselves off as the same contact.

I'd also like to see some customisation of the cockpit interiors. They could have some colour added & be made brighter. I 'd like to personal effects (Plushie-Thargoids that stick to the canopy windows just like those Garfield ones, some alien equivalent of the nodding canine (I have one of those sitting on my sub-woofa-box!) best applied inside my ship. Maybe as part of the new walking around inside my ship expansion.

I'd like to see customisation brought to a more extreme & personal level of detail, that almost no two ships are exactly alike, unless they are meant to be. Maybe a spray paint & decal editor. Things can be attached, to the hull, like war trophies, (Like Thargoid skulls!), if that is what you like to do. You know, go crazy with the hood adornments.

Is it possible to purchase station side storage for your cargo while switching ships?

My Scarab-buggy is seriously underpowered/under armed for taking out security skimmers. What's
up with that?

I couldn't complete a mission, even when I resorted to using my Cobra to run into on of them to take it out. That didn't count...like it's some kind of sport rather than a important mission.

I noticed that the planetary details seemed glitched when flying past. I hope my graphic card isn't playing up.

I thought Mercury, black, because it might be volcanic being that close to the sun, but I think that might be the case for a lot for lot planets. Especially those with hotter suns. Jupiter was disappointing and I haven't been able to find Australia. When I first flew close, I could make out the British Isles, the rest of Northern-Europe, Iceland, Greenland, U.S.S.R, South Africa, Canada, Northern America, South America. Has my homeland been removed since the end of the 22nd century. (I hope I guessed that one correctly!)

Ganymede, where I last docked, had weird orange coloured stains on it. Like that monkey puke colour
you used to describe the standard HUD colour scheme. What oversized monkey's mouth did that come from?
