My Fuel scooping technique

Evening all,

I believe I have perfected my fuel scooping technique on my Anaconda with my A7 fuel scoop, but don't know if this would work on a lesser rated scoop.

What I do is this, I focus on a point half way between the end tip of my ship and the central dot of my HUD. I keep the orbit line of the star in this location and I can then accelerate away to my hearts content and I will scoop and never crash into the star.

Is this the experience of others, or how do you do it?

Depends how much of a hurry you are in :)

If I'm slowboating, I'll fly into scoop range, honk the scanner then throttle right back to let it fill while I check the system map.

If I'm flying fast, it's full throttle aiming inside the drop line to start the scoop, pull up to skim the drop line, hit the FSD charge as soon as possible and pull directly away from the star. Align to the jump point when the scoop disengages. GO!
:D

The faster the scoop the bigger "gulp" you get as you skim past, this is what makes ships with a slow scoop frustrating when you're in a hurry.

In "fast mode" I never go below 100% throttle, I make sure sun is above me and skim pulling up to keep scoop at max

I always scoop with the star below me and the edge of the corona lapping at the bottom of my windshield.

If I'm passing through but the target system's beyond the star I skim round it at full chat and scoop what I can. If I'm stopping for a fill up I come in at 75% throttle and decelerate so that I end up at a dead stop on max scoop rate at about 62-64% heat.

The throttle is graduated?! I thought it was stop / go!

I bounce into the system then curve round the star in the general direction of the next waypoint. As soon as I see that the scoop rate is about to start dropping I hit the hyperspace countdown. Simples! Every now and then the booze makes me forget and I have to make a pretty loop the loop around the corona of a star. It's a hard life. :)

I go like, like really fast, setting speed to ludicrous speed.

(Had to do replot's in the beginning, due to the losing routes bug)
