My god, Frontier, the UI...THE UI!

So I'm not sure how everyone else is getting on with the changes to the UI, but personally I'm hating it. I understand its a sequel and sometimes things like the UI and UX change or evolve, but its like playing a totally different title to Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo. Theres SO much clicking required to do anything, the coaster builder menus are so busy its almost overwhelming and things like multi-select and create a group don't seem to work, at least not for me. The options to change camera between normal and slow seem to be gone too? The path builder is going to take some getting used to, but it seems to make sense. For me its really just the UI from to bottom. It might make life easier on console or be more familiar to console players, but it makes playing on PC a chore. Give us a classic mode, Frontier!

The UI has completely put me off playing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna refund it, but I thought "yay it's launch day, I'll play all day and night"... I turned it off.

If Frontier want to keep PC players playing, they're going to need to change the the UI and streamline everything.

The graphics, the pathing, everything else... it's perfect, but honestly, the UI is enough for me not to recommend the game.

The UI also made me stop playing the game. Everything is so big that a blind person could see the buttons. I'm already at the ui scale of 70%, but I think 40% would be better.

Hiding parts of the ui as if I would be gaming on a 10" display is making my mouse worn out because it kills muscle memory (trying to grab a second part, hey, where is my toolbar? o yea I first need to close the panel at the right top so 1 km mouse-travel to the top right and then back down again to get the toolbar to appear. Dam'd that costs me a few seconds of my life)

applying all changes but then reverting them if you forget to press 'confirm' is especially noticeable when coloring things. When I click on something other than the color popup, I’m accepting what I see don’t undo that what you did. (or make enter = accept, esc = cancel. Now there is no shortcut button to not move the mouse)

Pathing is actually very broken, I reverted back to 'classic piece by piece' because it doesn’t have the mind of its own starting halfway inside an other path without prior indication.

The full-screen park management has billboard-sized panels (actually 50 cm wide text-panels). Please read the screen size that someone has and make it a window on windows instead of 'console I’m looking at the screen from meters away'. Now it zooms so much that I have to rotate my head to a herniated angle just in order for me to read the whole sentence. the text could also be about half the size (of the 70% ui not the 100%).

Also, why are there only two rows of columns in the 'special' panel and then a press next? You could put another four rows below it, and the panel still floats without hitting the bottom toolbar; this is built to create work (beïng a mouse-clicker game), not be a great user experience.

Information:
Windows 11
AMD 9500 X
AMD 6900 XT
64gb
34" 21:9 screen 3440x1440, eye’s at 80 cm from center

It feels built for fullscreen billboards trying to 'market' not for pc gaming.

The reason why i'm posting is because looking at the "i’m critical" text above, it is not allot of work, and they have (had??) allot of experience with that looking at Planco1. So it can be patched to be miles better game as Planco 1. But these things need to be addressed before I'll start playing again, I don’t like looking at marketing billboards at 80 cm. A menu, a window, an os/program like interface, yes! but not a billboard with 1/2 things to show and text bigger than my wristwatch.

The rest of the game is actually awesome, and I want to play it for way too much time, but that won’t happen til the game accepts pc gamers again.

same here, I hope a patch in the next 7 days... The UI really annoys me. Pathing is good, but not perfect for me. Missing a lot of grid building options.

The pathing is probably the one thing I'm enjoying figuring out, though theres a huge learning curve to achieve smooth curves. The rest is, honestly, is just such a let down for now.
The pathing tools are on fire. I dedicated a few hours to only learning the tools and which works best for each path/queue. I was shocked at how well they work.

Yeah im starting to get used to them a little more. But still I would like the option to do a classic path building. And remove curbs

Please, please Frontier, take a look at planet zoo's UI, it's perfect, streamlined and attractive. This planet coaster 2 UI is horrendous. It looks like a mobile game, and it's a constant fight clicking between things to do anything. Just speak to the person who did the planet zoo UI and get them to overhaul this to match. This new UI is not good. It is rushed. It looks like it's in dev testing mode. You must know that. We're all praying you re-skin it with the usual Planet series UI design language asap.

Building is a pain in the ***

Game is definitly designed for console

On good exemple is the scenary resize. Good idea but terribly implemented.

You have to place the item, select it, click on the big button à the right, come back to the item, manipulate the terrible circle for resizing and validate.

On parkitech for exemple there is 2 shortcuts, one for increase one for decrease, you can resize on the fly while placing, it's 10 times faster

Looking at it and reading all the UI feedback really makes me miss the times were such games were simply PC exclusive because they're just not suited for consoles and when you try this is the result.

Here's hoping they manage to save it somehow by the time I really get around to playing it. Right now I guess I'll stick to DA and BG3...

Biggest complaint I presently have is the UI. It needs streamlined and improved for PC players--also, smaller scaling would be nice, around 50%, as the 70% option is still way too big. If they're able to utilize some of the features and knowledge from Planet Zoo and improve the experience, it would be greatly appreciated.

Omg this was me on launch day after being so excited leading up to the release. I stopped playing after 2 hours and took a break because I was so fed up with it. Then I could only play for a short time after the break...on launch day!

Hmm, haven't got the game, but reading people's descriptions, would you say this looks like yet another case of the UIs-designed-for-smartphones-invading-contexts-where-it-does-not-fit plague, that has destroyed usability ruddy everywhere for the last decade?

Sorry for butting in where I have no place being*, but this is such a huge bugbear of mine, and I pop briefly into crusade-mode against it now and again. :p

(* I come from the Elite Dangerous forums, but the odd non ED thread, like this, crops up among recent posts there. ED too has suffered terribly from the plague, as it happens. :( )

I wouldn't say it's like ui designed for smartphones because that would suggest something more simplified.

PC2's ui is the most laborious chore to get through, and for my job I have to use the most awful software that has the worst user interface I've ever seen. PC2's menus are almost like being at work. You have menus within menus within menus. You need to go to separate menus that then have sub-menus just to tweak something that you could just do with a single mouse click in Planet Zoo.
You have to click 'Done' three times before the game will release you and let you get out of a building menu/blueprint. It's like being stuck in tar.
