General / Off-Topic my god... ...it's full of torque.

Romain Dumas in the VW I.D. R @Pike's Peak breaks S. Loeb/Peugeot overall record by 16s (and the EV record by a full minute):

I love it when it bolts out of cover and the camera operator has to scramble a bit!:D

Well, that's because it IS a blender. ;)

I can ear that sound whenever I want in my city, I just need to take the subway. I can swear its electric trains sound almost exactly the same...just going a tad slower, and the scenery surely is less interesting.

True, electric vehicles sound horrible, when compared with combustion engine vehicles.

I'll casually drop this here....

Genuinely shivers down my spine. Why it does that? :)

Ah yes. The 8C.
Given the current trends, it is very much possible that we will never get a better sounding car. :(

Well we probably had at least one in the meantime :p:

(yes I know that's still an 8C under the skirt but...that sound...)

Well, they had some rough years in the middle. :D

You don't say! :D

That's the Alfa Romeo Arna. Yes, they really made it, together with Nissan (Alfa Romeo Nissan Automobili). Stuff of legends, in its own way.

Because you're a person of good tastes? Nothing can beat the music of a naturally aspirated V engine.

Seriously though, that Volkswagen I.D. R. is a great piece of engineering, mocking it was not my intention. It's just that I like to think I'm a product of my time, toddlers of today maybe will refer to the buzzing of an electric car in the same adoring way we old boots refer to those noisy and smelly internal combustion engines of old. That car is still a beast though!

That said, for additional shivers :p, I'd like to point you to another video:

That's from the channel of an Italian guy testing quite a lot of iconic cars, and doing it in a very competent and detailed way. Audio and video production are very good quality, and English subs are pretty spot on to understand what he's saying about the car. Probably the best track test of an 8C that can be found around (yes, even better than Top Gear's! :p).
