So uh yeah it's good that the driver has confidence changes based on how he's doing in the race but the issue with this system comes when the front running teams decide to take grid penalties. You have no chance at preventing their overtakes and they tank your confidence all the same. I think a tweak is needed where confidence is not affected when an overtake is actually expected.
