My hopes and dreams for Elite: Dangerous

The game is OK as it stands and I will continue to play it, but it needs a few more things in order to be escalated to greatness. Here is my quick list of some fixes that could help the game tremendously.


Communication - There needs to be at least an open text chat to all players within a certain range of your own ship or maybe a station. Docked owuld only be able to speak with other docked players. There needs to be an option to disable this on player side.

Squads - There is really NO NEED to make a squad ability in the game that I can see, players are pretty resourceful on doing that externally on their own. Grouping I can see as needed if people want to play on the same instance and see each other though.

Navigation - Yes, there needs to be a routing function added. Maybe restrict it to explored systems only for auto-routing.

Credits - OK, you now have a zillion credits and there is nothing that I can see it being used for. The game currently seems to be a race for credits with no accomplishments.

Accomplishments - Highest NPC kills, Highest Player kills, etc.

Commodities - Stations needs to be assigned to producing things. Example: Jurigon Station (in a technology system) has and produces FSD, but needs A and B resources in order to continue to produce those items. They can be purchased or MINED and brought to the station for use in production. This would then allow players an opportunity to broker or even block the production of certain things in certain areas. This can even be multi-tiered where smaller resources make components and those components make up ship parts, etc. and not necessarily in the same station. You could mine for ores, send to a platform for refining into some other raw material, which would them be needed to make something at a station.

Faction claiming - Open space sectors should have the ability to be claimed by the faction that you are on best terms with. This could also fuel some conflicts over ownership.

Exploration - Add a "discovered by <name>" on the system info map for notoriety when someone has completely discovered all or has discovered over +50% of whats there.

Exploration Missions - Go find <# item(s)> floating somewhere in <location(s)>.

Mining - Most of asteroids should have a slight difference in the surface for a visual. Or add a radar that has the ability to detect certain flavors within a certain range or your ship.
