My hopes for this year.

I started playing elite with 3 of my regular xbox crowd but they have all drifted off to other games. I now only play elite when they aren't online. I did persuade them all to get horizons but it didn't hold them long.
My hope is that with the dlc's coming out I'll be able to lure them back as their main issue with the game was that they felt like they were playing it solo even with the rest of us online.

So - I'm planning on getting one of the top 3 ships and maximising it for all 4 of us to have fun on. So I'll have 4 scarabs and hopefully 3 or 4 launchable ships.

My question(s) are what ship would best suit this idea, do we think it's likely that a ship will be able to have 3-4 smaller launchable ships?
How realistic is my idea really?

Cheers, mark.

The class 6 vehicle hanger fill hold 4 SRVs, so no issue there. As far as fighters, that might depend on the ship. Or the fighter hanger module that is undoubtedly going to come with that upgrade. Just a hunch it will work like the planetary vehicle hangers. If so, you may be able to squeeze in enough fighters for your mates.

Yeah that was my thought. The biggest internal in a ship is a size 8 and the cutter has 3 of those. So realisticly we should be able to get at least 3 ships on a large ship, right?

Yes, I understand that's how it will work, but was looking for a comment or information that says the number we will be able to have on board. Since the OP asked.

I reckon it'll be one for the Keelback/FGS, and two for the Anaconda/Corvette/Cutter.

I'd be willing to put money on that.

I'm not taking that bet, cause I think you're right.

It's pretty obvious to be honest.

Then again I've been studying outfitting in this game every night for months, because I'm a nerd, and I can kinda' build a ship on paper in my head now.

Logic indicates that my theory will turn out to be correct, based on how SRV's/limpets were implemented. If not, I'll eat my hat.

Maybe for people like us, but not everyone studies these things. Most will just look at the ship description, where it says pretty much says what we are talking about.

Yeah. Maybe that was a little elitist of me. (outfitting elitist, that's new)

Still, I'd be very surprised if I'm proven wrong when 2.2 arrives.

I do wonder, has FD said anything about being able to outfit the fighters? Or will they just be stock?

Edit: Maybe a couple different loadouts to chose from, but now that I think about it probably not able to fully outfit a fighter.

Cutter and corvette are the only 2 ships that will be able to launch two fighters, the anaconda will be able to launch one. It's in each of the ships descriptions in the game.

It does say that in he descriptions but the internal slots seem to suggest another story. And being a description it may only be true as far as the normal outfitted version of that ship would be set up.

And just to muddy the waters, there will be ai controlled launched fighters and player controlled launched fighters.

Ignore the in-game descriptions...

I'm sure game-play will take over.

Also take note that the Anaconda's descrption specifically mentions a Sidewinder class fighter. You could easily fit 3 Condors in that space, possibly 4. But its clear the ship launched fighters will likely be limited to 2 max, and will likely only have Condors and Imperial Fighters available.

You underestimate the size of a Condor...

I'm just going by what I've read and what they say in the game. Maybe they will change it, I don't see ships being able to carry 8 fighters, like having several different limpet control modules. I don't exactly know the size these fighters will be, but I'm sure they will be a lot bigger then the SRV, so I'll stick to what they say in the game, that the cutter and corvette can deploy two small fighters, and the anaconda can deploy one. I have no reason to think anything else until I read or see otherwise. If ships can carry 6-8 fighters, well they will be so small they aren't going to be practical for anything. May as well be able to arm limpet drones with tiny weapons and send send them out to do battle.....:)

It's simple logic to look at the size of the internals on the ships.

Size 5 for one fighter, size 7 for two...
