My Ideal Aviary Expansion

It is a popular topic, and I might as well cover it. The possible Aviary Expansion is something that has been on players' wishlists since year 1 of Planet Zoo and here is my ideal Planet Zoo: Aviary Expansion Pack.

  33. Great Hornbill
  34. Andean Condor
  35. Andean -of-the-Rock
  36. Wild Budgerigar
New Items:
  • Aviary Building Set, a varied building set that resembles that of the other themes in Planet Zoo that are specifically able to house birds and bats
  • Aviary Perches that take the form of branches, rocks, ropes and varieties of the existing PZ trees designed for aviary birds to perch in them.
  • Elevated Feeding Troughs and Drinking Troughs
  • Nectar Feeder
  • Parrot Grass Enrichment
  • Nest Boxes
  • Different varieties of puzzle enrichment items
  • Bon-Bon Enrichment
  • Food Wheel Enrichment
  • Bird Baths
  • Aviary Fish Feeder
  • Aviary Wading Pool
  • Aviary Waterfall Shower
  • Aviary Fishing Pool Enrichment
  • Aviary Brine Pool
  • Faux Carcass Feeder
  • Aviary Fruit Spike Feeder
  • Cuttle Bone
  • Aviary Rope Toys
  • Some of the current enrichment items for habitat animals could be applied to aviary species too like the wind chimes and keyboard
This would be a really nice pack to diversify the birds in the game

  2. Java Sparrow
  3. Wild Budgerigar
These three are absurdly tiny.

Leaving aside how unlikely it is that we'll ever get an "expansion" (not sure why everyone is so fixated on that concept when it concerns birds*), most of the species chosen for such a pack by Frontier will likely be ones that are easily seen and draw in crowds in real zoos (I'll ignore whatever comments follow about birds not being a big draw in and of themselves, because that really isn't a universal experience).

IMO a more realistic pack would be;
1. Scarlet or blue-and-gold macaw (either is a classic).
2. Andean condor or bearded vulture.
3. Bald eagle (for sheer recognisability).
4. Some kind of owl (my go-to is the Eurasian eagle owl for the sheer size, but IMO the snowy owl is a likely pick).
5. Atlantic puffin (always a popular choice).
6. Sulphur-crested cockatoo (an obvious one, again for recognisability).
7. Scarlet or northern bald ibis (the former is eyecatching, the latter is more important in terms of conservation).

Possiby an eighth slot if they forgo an exhibit animal, but it would likely go to an exhibit animal that can fly (not a bird, and doubtfully a butterfly, since they aren't displayed in small exhibits in any zoo I know of).

In terms of scenery; this pack doesn't require anything new. Any system which allows for the containment of birds could easily be used for the containment of any other animal if it's versatile enough, so whatever they go for would probably come in a free update as the main feature ("covered habitats" or something). Likewise, though I would expect some bird-specific enrichment to come with the DLC itself, most enrichment could also be more generally used by climbing animals, particularly primates, so I imagine a lot of that would also come in the free update.

*Any DLC that adds birds is going to guarantee further support, because any system implemented to add birds will require ongoing support to maintain. So with that in mind, if they plan on adding birds, it's likely they'll plan on adding more later. No point in putting all your eggs in one basket, after all. If they dropped birds in, say, December, they can virtually guarantee that added, say, six to eight more species in a following four DLC will make them money. An expansion pack of the size you're proposing just isn't economically sensible, nor is it something Frontier has ever really done before.

Ok, you make some fair points, this is just a speculative idea, I know it wouldn't really happen, but it is good to dream.

Aviary Animal Pack species ideas with species representing every current dlc Inc. deluxe:
  1. Toco Toucan
  2. Snowy Owl
  3. Scarlet Macaw
  4. Laughing Kookaburra
  5. Atlantic Puffin
  6. Rhinoceros Hornbill
  7. African Grey Parrot
  8. Bald Eagle
  9. Bearded Vulture
  10. Roseate Spoonbill
  11. California Condor
  12. Ruby-Throated Hummingbird

I think having 36 birds in one pack would definitely never happen. I think it's unlikely we'll get 12 birds if a pack, but I wouldn't say it would never happen. I think 12 would be the topmost we'd see in a pack. 8 is the likely offering to go along with the number of other packs. I would personally be disappointed if we only got 5.

My pack would look like:
Bald Eagle
Toco Toucan
Hyacinth Macaw (my favorite of the Macaws though I would think the Scarlet would likely be the more likely, this is what I want to see personally)
Australian Pelican
Kookaburra
Rhinoceros Hornbill
Secretary Bird
African Grey Parrot

That's 2 from South America, Africa and Oceania. We would get updates to the Flamingo, Peafowl, and Red Crowned Crane,so that would give us another African bird, and two more of Asia (hence why I only had one Asian bird in the pack). My thoughts are a plan for both a Roadrunner and Trumpeter Swan for North America in future packs, and possibly the Roseate Spoonbill as well. I chose the AGP for Africa to give a second parrot in the pack, but one each for Africa/South America. Future packs could possibly include the Scarlet and Blue and Yellow Macaw and Scarlet Ibis for South America, the Shoebill Stork, Grey Crowned Crane and Marabou Stork for Africa, and Black Swan from Oceania. Throw in an Owl, probably the Snowy Owl, and those would be the bigger wants I have. If every single one of these was added in that would be a total of 19 birds added in through upcoming packs, and 3 more already in the game to be updated for flight.
