When running the rides of an amusement or theme park, there are several things that must be taken into account that Planet Coaster has not yet featured. Here are some improvements and details to the ride system (among other things) that I would love to see.
Ride Attendants
A crucial position to any ride's safety and efficiency is an attendant outside of the operator position. These people help people on and off the ride, give information regarding important safety precautions, and assist with loose articles (more on that later). I think adding attendants as workers in planet coaster could be a great addition, as they could be easy to implement and would bring a new level of depth to the game. I'd also like to see them be able to check restraints (as an option you can select, off by default as instant dispatches would pretty much be gone), and maybe even get remote dispatch switches as well.
Ride lockers and cubbies
If you're going to a park, you probably have some items on you to help you through the day. This can include a backpack, cell phones, wallets, and other items. Anyone designing a park should be taking these factors into account, as these items are very valuable to the guests and there need to measures taken to store these items while guests ride. These measures come in the form of cubbies and bins on the platform, as well as lockers outside of the platform. Cubbies and bins on the platform are almost almost free, while lockers tend to be an upcharge. I think giving guests items to carry throughout their day plus the addition of these storage units could be a very interesting addition to the game.
Platform and ride queue improvements
I think that the ride platforms in Planet Coaster are already pretty decent, but I think that improvements can be made. In terms of the cubbies and bins I described earlier, that should be a step necessary to opening the ride the same way getting an entrance/exit sorted out is. I think you should have several styles to pick from in terms of the appearance of the storage devices, but they would always serve a similar function. I also think you should be able to connect a locker building to the ride in a similar fashion to how you can connect objects to a display sequencer in order to meet this requirement. When it comes to priority queues, you should also be able to use the exit gate to serve this function. Also, Frontier, please take this opportunity to make dual entrance/exit gates on both platforms for the wing coasters and the 4D. Thank you.
Disabled riders
Amusement/theme parks are fun for the whole family. But not everyone in the family is going to be 100% physically able, as some might be confined to wheelchairs, use a crutch, are blind and use a white cane or a service animal, or maybe even be missing some limbs. I think adding more disabled riders and finding ways to accommodate them could be a great addition to the game. Now, these guests will not be by any means common; maybe one disable guest per thousand. But their presence will have a huge effect on how the rides operate, as these guests could not have steps leading up to a ride, since someone in a wheelchair or a crutch is not going up steps without a fight. Finding a way to use an exit path or a priority entrance with no steps as a requirement could both have a realistic effect
These are just a few changes I would like to see in order to add more variety to gameplay and functionality. I recently got a job at an amusement park as a ride attendant/operator, so all this is just based on my experience that I've had so far. I think these additions could make a very well received addition to the game, and provide a more realistic theme/amusement park operation.
