So, I got myself an early Christmas present when I bought ED back at some point in beta 2. Came in late, still had fun trying out some stuff. I didn't play quite seriously due to the wipes, but I did my best to test stuff and report bugs when I found them.
In gamma, I basically didn't want to play at all, since the "release-wipe" still loomed on the horizon... but I couldn't resist logging in from time. At some point I finally gave in and told me "At least take an early look at home" and started my way to Sol. It was a 150 LY trip from the galactic "northwest", and on the way I managed to actually grab a whole bunch of modules for my brave little Sidey and gained some Credits left and right. When I nearly stranded after a set of systems without stations I also ditched my cargo module in favor of a fuel scoop. After all, I only wanted to visit Sol, right?
Yeah, right. I made some screenshots on my way and sent them to my best friend - and when preparing a personal message in a private forum, something made a connection in my brain when I typed his nickname that he had online for ages: Saiph.
Yup: at this point I decided to become a fulltime explorer, tried to stock up on the last few needed modules and left Sol to the galactic "southeast", my 647 LY distant destination in sight.
A few jumps out of Sol the game had me firmly in it's clutches! I witnessed marvelous planetary wonders, binary systems, trinary systems, pirate outposts and even some backwater trading post 50 LY from Sol where I actually managed to grab a class C FSD. So I took my time, traveled the galaxy 10 LY at a time, scooped fuel from achingly beautiful stars, endured the time from gamma 2.05 until the server side fix from 22. of december until FINALLY the transaction server let me actually perform hyperjumps again... and suddenly, on this lazy christmas morning, fueled with cookies and coffee...
The final jump
It's so blue!
In all it's glory!
And 8 light minutes out
What I basically want to say: I love this game! Now starting my return trip... I will have made a few credits, since I scanned every single system out to the last planetary body - but I actually don't care *how much* I made! I had a lot of fun, and I wonder what I will see next!
Thanks a lot for a marvelous game, Frontier Development!
