Newcomer / Intro My map bookmarks are a mess

Has anyone got any tips on how to organise bookmarks usefully?

How do you do it - or do you just chuck them all in "favourites" like me?

Do you use Squadron bookmarks?

I'm tempted to delete all of them and start again.

Like Jack, I use prefixes. GARD - WEP - body name for guardian weapon blueprint locations. MATS - YTTM - body for Yttrium trees, ODY - Name for Ody Engineers etc. I make use of squadron bookmarks too. Shame we can't make folders or add notes to bookmarks, or even better access then outside the game; I bet someone would knock up an app quick smart.

Ditto. I use systematic name prefixes throughout - for engineers, Thargoid stuff (crash sites & meta-alloys), Guardian sites, Mats traders, planets with raw materials, handy tech brokers and interstellar factors... I also try not to bookmark at a system level, but always use the relevant station/settlement/planet within the system, so e.g. if I want an engineer I can just take a look at the settlements list and they are all there in a meaningful order - E (Bubble engineers), OE (Ody bubble engineers), EC (Colonia engineers), OEC (you can guess). Bookmarking at the lower level also means I can one-shot-plot a route back to Colonia (Jacques) or Sag A (Explorer's Anchorage) if I get the urge ;)

I try to keep my favourites list fairly trim - my home station & carrier, handy CG locations (temporarily), and where my AX ships are (since the fleet list scrolling in the Galaxy map broke a few updates back).

I have only a few favourites, the main one being my Fleet Carrier so I have a way of finding it without getting lost in the clutter of other carriers.
As favourites is small I will put temporary bookmarks in there used for navigation purposes.

No, I am not in any squadrons.

Just go through them and either rename them or add prefixes as suggested above.

I have many with the prefix RR followed by a number which are stations on the old Rares Routes the number showing which route, which I could probably delete.

I also have some named ones like Crashed Conda that have none of the original information.

I use numerical prefixes according to the "importance" of a bookmark type, and most of my bookmarks are names or descriptions instead of the default system name. For instance, I have station bookmarks for all engineers that look like "10 - ship/on foot - engineer name".
