So, I just returned after a longer break. and first off I'll say cqc Is a good addition to the game, 1.5 looks good and 2.0 looks great. So frontier keep on trucking.
But. I have a issue. Not so much as an issue but more of something that grinds my gear.
Elite lacks something very important, It lacks culture.
Now before you go all "what you mean lacks culture we have factions and ship designs and
" Well yeah we have hints of culture and we have plenty of canon books and the occasional murder celebrity mission. But we lack things that any normal human society would have.
For instance the only advertisement ever seen is for different ship manufactures, why? yeah I get it from a design perspective lack of means, or not really being prioritized over getting the game better overall.
But from an in game perspective it makes little sense. It's like if the only advertisement we had was WV and Audi and that's it. Not to mention despite all these advertisements were are these ships being produced? I mean being the only corps in the entire universe that can afford to advertise in space they should have some seriously big factories.
The systems lack individuality and I miss stumbling upon quirky things like one can in fallout 4.
And yes I know fallout 4 is a different game on a bigger scale. But it's also alot more shallow then elite, or is it?
Elite is mostly: go here kill things get reward. Funnily enough fallout is the same. And i know huge budget differences and elite is not fallout, but Look at how the world is build up in fallout it feels like people actually live there. In elite it feels often (if not all the time) As npc's don't actually live here they just exist as filler.
So, what I miss from elite I guess is a sense of there actually being culture, and the human quirk.
A great deal of this is alleviated by players we create our own societies in elite, and this is probably were Frontier should be more outreaching. They are doing a great job keeping in touch, but I personally feel being very restricted with what influence we can make.
I get one can't change anything, but a group/society should be able to create waves in the Universe. Especially when the current livable space in Elite is so.. ugh hate to say it Autonomous.
Other then that great game Love frontier, and I get it this will probably never have any sense of priority ever. but I felt like voicing my Minor gripe.
