Hi Commanders, I've been enjoying the game massively but probably more than any other feature I'd want a way to either taxi to your other ships or be able to order your ships to your current station. Some back story:
I've been playing since launch and currently have a hauler outfitted for mining, and the starting sidey with about 100k of upgrades for bounty/pirate hunting. My starting star has a station 150,000ls from the star and foolishly that is where I bought my hauler.
So I originally set out in my hauler to do some mining but after many hours of that wanted a change of pace and decided to get some bounties. My first problem occured when I realised I would have to fly all the way back to the star system and then run that horribly long distance back to the station. I realised there wasn't a way for me to rebase both my ships short of selling them and rebuying at the new location. I did have the option for remote selling my sidey so I decided to fly back, swap ships and do some hunting. I actually got lucky with a few and I kept going further a field, aiming to get to a combat field thinking that I can remote sell my hauler and rebuy it so I wasn't concerned how far I went.
Well now at a guess I'm a minimum 30 jumps away from home (flight planner won't map it), and it won't let me sell it. Says the information is unavailable and I'm still 60 LY from the conflict zone. To do some mining I need to return all the way back to the start >.<
I have heard people refer to using a ship ordering system but I can see how that can be easily exploited. Take a long range ship, fly it across the galaxy and then bring your ship that could not possibly make it there.
So instead here is my suggestion, a taxi service, that costs you and flys you in real time (to prevent people using it as a teleport to abuse market prices etc) to your other ships which then lets you fly them to either meet up with your other ships eg re home, or do whatever you want to do there. That way you can leave a combat ready ship near a conflict Zone and a mining ship near a rich mining zone and not have to spend several hours flying back and forth if you want to do one or the other.
Thoughts?
