I think he will make a good James Bond. He has a notable presence and air of authority.

Flimley

Agreed. He has the perfect cool and commanding presence for the role.

Black Bond. About time to break the stereotype on this kind of character.

I approve. :)

I don't know, Un1, we've had black action heroes for years now. I think the casting choice is less about diversity and more about the right man for the job. He would be my first choice for the role.

Ugh, dumb idea. Make a new awesome black spy character. This sort of revision is just stupid. If 007 was set out in 007 lore as a code name for a number of spies that had held the position then definitely, but it's not.

What's next? Time for a white Shaft.

Women MI6 field agents are there for sure. Could they perform as good as men? Depends on the mission profile. I'm down for a Jane Bond.

Special forces though should not involve women, only in The Special Reconnaissance Regiment. It's in the name. Leave the heavy work to the men.

Today's climate a black James Bond is very feasible. During the cold war, just no. Absolutely no.

He's a good actor. Still that is only half the job, you still need a well made film with a good script, and the industry is not exactly knocking them out the park over recent years. It could be more 'meh'?

I dont see this happening.

Ian Fleming was known of his not-so-hidden racism in his books and this would make Mr. Fleming turn in his grave.. :D
Also, afaik Daniel Craig has already committed doing at least the next Bond movie.

I got an Idea, let Bond be a women, that would be great. :x

I never knew that, never read the books. But Hoagy Carmichael is exactly the sort of bloke I'd expect to see in a DB5

The idea of setting Bond in his natural habitat, the late 50's/early 60's is great. It allows Bond to keep all his misogyny without it appearing weird.

What rubbish. I remember watching a programme called SAS are you tough enough. The person that won it was a woman and all the SAS (who were putting them through their paces) guys said that they would have had no issue with her being a part of the SAS. She was tough, strong, smart and handled all the psycological aspects superbly. She was better then all the men that entered.

Some names circulate on the net ...

Emilia Clarck, Gilian Anderson, Priyanka Chopra, Emily Blunt, Naomie Harris, Margot Robbie, Charlize Theron

WONDER WOMAN SHOULD ALSO BE A MAN, at least 50% of the time. For balance like?

:D (Me = troublemaker).

I like Idris Elba greatly but while not sure Bond is defined by his colour he does have a defined history, Scotish father Swiss mother? Idris' Dad (I just googled) from Sierra Leone, Mum from Ghana it doesn't quite compute that this is the same person and maybe some things aren't meant to be, no matter how fair you want to go?

Maybe Bond is killed and there's a new 007 .. but James Bond? Surely he has to be a mysogenist at least and definitely not an entirely nice guy, the way I do perceive Idris Elba.

Well, I dunno. There's a sorta nod to it in On Her Majesty's Secret Service - right at the start when he's just fought off a couple of thugs and the girl flees in her car, he quips "this never happened to the other fellow."

James Bond has always had ridiculous plots...

Bond uncovers a baddie's hollowed out volcano lair

Bond goes into space to shoot out poison satellites

Bond uncovers plans for the President of the USA to give America to the Russians to avoid being blackmailed with what he got up to in a Russian hotel
