My new Anaconda will not stop overheating????????? HELP PLEASE!!!

OP I’m curious how long it took you to get your Anaconda. What’s your flight hours logged as a CMDR in the Pilots Federation?

When it comes to PPs, a one-size-smaller A-rated PP is always better than a D-rated PP of the next size up.
It will be lighter, produce more power and have better thermal properties.
It'll be more expensive too, though. (remember what I said about the cost of an Annie creeping up on you?)

All my multirole Annies run with a 7A PP with G2 overcharging and a 6A fuel scoop.
With the current special effects, I get enough juice out of the PP to run 7A DD5 thrusters, a 6A Prismatic shield c/w 4x SBs and a half-decent range of weapons and the thermal efficiency is only something like 0.43 (.03 above standard).

I played around with both the fuel scoops and the PPs before settling on those modules.
Smaller scoop meant that I'd overheat while scooping.
G3 overcharged PP meant that I'd overheat when scooping with the 6A scoop.

I suppose, if I was desperate, I could go to G3 (or higher) overcharging and then fit a 7A scoop but, for a multirole ship, I wanted to keep the C7 slot free for a cargo rack.

As an emergency measure, don't forget that you can shut down things like SBs, sensors, PDist and (if you're desperate) your shield generator to reduce power draw and reduce heat while scooping.
The proper fix, though, is a suitable A-rated PP.

Thats what I normally do.

I AFK'd that first scoop at like 200FPS and almost immediately got incinerated.

The PP was the issue lol So no issues since I switched to a 7A

I was going to ask how you got on after swapping to an A power plant......... you beat me to it!

Awesome it solved the issue. I learned about the A PP the hard way as well some time back, after a round trip to Cats Paw... Feeling like a fool is part of the fun! Now, next time someone says... hey why do i keep over heating, you'll be able to nod the gleeful nod and know what the answer is. hahah.

Kudos, and GL.. :)

To be honest I am not sure.

I bought the game day 1 though when it released on PS4. Is there a way to check my total hours played?

You can check in the right panel under info/general I think... Time played.

EDIT: Status, then statistics

(where you see status, modules, firegroup tabs etc, select STATUS your default screen is 'reputation', scroll along to 'statistics' then scroll down. Should be down there somewhere.

2 weeks 5 days 12 hours

Full disclosure though thats with me taking breaks and me refusing to do exploits like Smeaton.

A 6A fuel scoop does also help, though.

The 6A Scoop alone could very well elevate his overheating problems. Depending on how he is flying his scoop runs. I always use a fast orbital technique with the star directly to the Port or Starboard side of the ship just within scoop range.

With a 6A you will be topped off pretty damned fast. I often run a D rated PowerPlant on my high jump range Conda and never really run into any overheating issues while scooping with a 6A scoop.

An A rated power plant is what you need and have at least a 5A scoop.
I run this (G2 additional power, monstered plant) and never overheat when scooping + G5 maxed fsd

A rating stuff is overrated imo, especially for bigger ships. A 6B fuel scoop is marginally worse than a 6A and hugely cheaper. A B rated power plant has a nice fat integrity bonus and if you overcharge or armour it I've generally found it to be more than good enough in anything but a pure combat build.

If you've got the money, go for it, but engineering has removed the requirement to A rate these days. Keeps the rebuy down too :)

OP, I just ran some quick numbers, and it looks like your build could be run with a 6A or 6B power plant. The 6A will cost you about 16 million, the 6B will cost you between 5-6 million, meaning you could just trade out the 8D for the 6B for almost even money.

The A-rated power plants are wonderfully efficient, and usually worth the money if you have it. The B-rated plants are much better than the D's, and more affordable than the A's. They weigh more than the A's, so your jump range will be affected

The good news here is that the 6B is half the mass of the 8D, so trading to the 6B gives you better heat and longer jump for the same money or less.

Edited for clarity.

Make sure you are not in "Silent Running" mode. I hit the button for that mode and got caught with that.

An A-rated power plant will always have the best thermal efficiency and an 8A power plant (80 tons mass) adds only 16 tons more mass than a 8D (64 tons) power plant. Also, when you get around to engineering your power plant (you should do this LAST) beware of "over-engineering" it. Modifying the power plant to provide much more than the ship needs to run everything reduces module integrity and increases heat generation in most cases. o7

OP are you using Li Yong-Rui space for the discount on ships and modules?

Well worth visiting for something as big as an Anaconda and a 7A PP

Yep I bought it in Rui space, but I need to head back home and farm before I can grab a 7A PP, but I have a 6A now and its working just fine.
