Engineers My new direction for 2.1

My only current ship is an Asp Explorer fitted out with almost the best of everything. Since I am unable to defend myself by killing other ships I've decided to re outfit it with running away in mind. I'll carry stock guns and all the defensive stuff it can carry along with the largest cargo holds (128T).

Now I need to get a combat ship for doing combat stuff. I've got around 20 million to spend on buying and outfitting one right now. I've used a vulture before with some success but need help in decided what to get. If you have a suggestion along with fittings for combat, I'd appreciate it.

Materials that I have on the asp get transferred to any active ship. The asp has space for 600 do smaller ships have less space so that I would lose materials when switching ships?

all have 600

I fly an ASP now and an FAS for combat... as it is also versatile with lots of internals and better jumprangethan the FDL.

But with your Budget I would start getting an Vulture for combat... later get an FAS or FDL for combat...

If your Asp has the best of everything, can I ask why you are "unable to defend" yourself?

if you want to "run away", then drop the weapons. Having 'photonic cannons of doom' or 'stock weapons' won't help you any if they are never deployed and only add mass which slows you down and reduces jump range.

Combat ship:

Figure how you like to approach combat (jousting, gun n run, piracy, dps attrition, whatever) and outfit a ship along this criteria.

There are so many combat ship type threads on the forum already, look through a few to get some ideas.

What works, or is comfortable for one player, is not for another - this does not imply skill level.

Purchase hulls at a discounted station and D rate the core internals. Go out the landing bay and fly around a bit. Once you think you have found one, then outfit it to your liking.

In that price range, I would get an Imperial Eagle. But you might not like the flight characteristics of that craft yourself and be more comfortable with a Viper MK III, for example.

Materials are transferred with you - the pilot.
