My new hobby: Space Robin Hood

Void opals are perfect for "rob from the rich to give to the poor" fun times.
Here's what I've been doing:

  • Using inara.cz, find a cluster of systems that are selling Void Opals for top price.
  • Cruise these systems until I find someone inbound.
  • Announce that I'm collecting donations for the poor & nooby.
  • Pull them over, scan to confirm cargo.
  • Some happily donate at this point. For the rest, there's hatchbreakers.
  • Scoop up the goods.
  • Every once in a while, return to noob-popular systems (Eravate, or sometimes Sol or Wyrd etc).
  • Find a poor CMDR, preferably someone who's managed to move out of a sidewinder at least and can follow basic instructions.
  • Pull them over.
  • Ask them if they're willing to take on an important mission with a huge reward.
  • Give them a few tons of Opals & tell them to sell it at <nearest spot currently posting a top-tier price>.
  • Supercruise off into the sunset.

No killing needed.

What ship are you flying? Asking for a friend... :D

Stolen goods, receiving stolen goods, implicating the unsuspecting new... you must be the Somali Prince who’s been trying to give away his fortune all these years.

Just want to point out your reference to the very dangerous and socialist lie concerning Robin Hood.

Robin Hood did NOT take anything from the rich. To say that justifies theft and other socialist practices.

What Robin Hood did was taking back taxes that the poor had been forced to pay. So no robbery of someone else's property, simply returning to the poor what was rightfully theirs.

So no, you're not a Space Robin Hood. More like a Space Jeremy Corbin or a Space IRS employee.

Historically speaking it's very difficult to say what Robin Hood stole or who from. There is a general consensus that he pioneered robbing the rich to give to the poor but let's be honest when you look at the source material it doesn't actually mention giving anything away.

Also OP I tried several times to hand stolen diamonds over to noobs back in the early days. Most of them logged before I could broker the deal or ran off.

I suspect you are enriching second account holders!

What a lovely activity.
Re Bold: That doesn't sound like a particularly safe idea.. :p

Yeah it's surprisingly difficult to get people to listen to you for a few minutes.

Yeah it's surprisingly difficult to get people to listen to you for a few minutes.
You're a young man, pootling around the county in your little Vaxhaul (Opel) Corsa; you've just got your license and you're nervous as hell.
Suddenly, a black Ford F250 with raised suspension and dark tinted windows appears in the rear view mirror.^ It's close.. oh, so very close. Filling up the rear-view as it gets closer, barreling down the road.
The driver fires something against your little car, you feel a jerk, a yank and suddenly the F250 hits the brakes. You swerve left, then right. Your foot is hard on the accelerator. You're utterly terrified of what'll happen if you stop.. especially since you watched Tow Truck Killer the night before.
The attackers vehicle is too big, too powerful. It's grinding to a halt and taking you with it. You soil yourself a little, you want to cry and call for help, but your tongue catches in your throat and you turn to a quivering mess.

The smoke from the tires settles, and you look in your side-mirror. The F250's door opens, and you see your attacker immerge.* The terror envelopes you, with a high-pitched scream you burst from your car and leg it down the embankment, and off into the foggy night.
