My new ship

Hi,
New player here. Two questions about new ships:

1. I just bought the eagle. I chose to store my current ship(sidewinder) because I remember reading somewhere that it is better to sell off the parts and modules independently one by one than choose the option when purchasing my new ship of "Purchase new ship and sell current one"...did I make the correct choice or does it not matter? Should I sell off the parts of my old ship(sidewinder) separately, or when I make a new ship purchase?
2. When I outfit my ship with a new module, I select 'Buy and Equip'. It automatically replaces the existing module with the one I just purchased. Where does the old module go? How can I get it and sell it off for some credit?

Thanks!

generally speaking when you swap out components you automatically sell it and the difference between modules is either added to your credit balance or removed.

For example say you have a million credit module and swap it out for a 3 million credit components you have to foot 2 million, wheas if you swap the 3 mil for the 1 mil. module you get 2million added to your balance.

when people part out their ship down to the hull it means they sold off everything that isn't nailed down and then swapped down to the lowest grade parts for the bulkheads, powerplant, thrusters, power distributor, life support, fuel tank and sensors and then sold that.

IIRC you get a bit more parting out the ship that you would selling it whole.

When you buy and equip a new module the previous one gets sold automatically for its full value. When you sell a ship, it is only sold at 90% of its original value, and this includes all modules. So it is cheaper to sell all the modules in a ship before you sell the hull itself

Hope this helps :)
