My no insurance gameplay lasted from day 1 until today

Once i got the hang of things I was playing in hard mode all the way (no insurance and full upgrades with every penny i had).

Today I decided to play with a hangover, my reaction time was down and in my beloved Python I got my handed back to me! Boom!

Back to my sidewinder and 700,000 credits... but so much fun getting there as I was playing the game and not grinding. During that time, I became an expert & broker. My goal was to try every ship I could. I tried every single ship except the Type 9, Federation bucket and Anaconda.

Best ships were the:-
  • viper on the early days. (most fun pvp vessel)
  • Asp once I knew how to pilot (Killed my first good bounty PK in it)
  • Python, a class to itself.... what a beauty she was! No one got near me(for long)

I don't intend to quit or as I knew I was playing with without lives. The adrenaline rush from going up against someone knowing I had to survive made the risk v reward system work for me. (I'm an ex UO PvPer)

Now I might go out and just purely PvP for a while. I have to say,,,, what an amazing game this is!

At least you are still upbeat about it, I would still be sat in a corner rocking back and forth, crying into my joystick. I always keep a kitted out ship or two in reserve so that if the worst happens I have a head start on rebuilding my life.

Haha, I think I might be there with you if I'd played like that. :D

LOL I spent my 700'000 on a nice shiny viper at Ho HSI and have made a quick 500k in a couple of hours. The thing about ED is it's just a game post changer. Bigger means more credits but the game remains the same. Just I am finding I am taking down the same NPC ships in a C class graded viper almost as quick as it's so manoeuvrable.

Lets call this round 2 but now I know how to make quick bucks fast.

Ex UO, glad someone else 'gets' the meaning of risk :)

Respect to you . But remember kids, don't drink and fly ;)

That's legit, you're a better man than I.

Also to the others, I played UO for 7 Years..last MMO I REALLY enjoyed. One of the only to take actual skill with PvP not just a decked out character. Even a low char with good skill could beat a 7xGM char for instance.

Been a long time since i heard 7xgm :)

I've said before, but elite is the closest I've felt to those uo days despite how different setting is

+1 OP. Nice to hear such a really positive post, even from someone who lost so much.

Keep flying, and perhaps several strong coffee's next time :)

Nice post. Its nice to here from someone who knew the risks of what he was doing. Despite the whinging in the different game modes, this game is still fun. I am just returning from an exploration in my Asp, will pick up my Clipper, do some more trading, bounty hunting, and then go out on another long jaunt. The only thing I havent really tried is mining.

It seems my signature has found its origin at last! Woohoo!

On a similar note, I too have dabbled with the dark arts of flying 'sans insurance'.

I hit up a RES, took on 3 Anacondas in a run and ducktailed it back to base on 32% hull and a pounding chest requiring a brief lie down afterwards!

Props to you for sticking it out for so long! :)
