It's almost but not quite funny that most people who claim to have OCD don't. The initialism 'OCD' has been latched onto by 'geek chic' culture that thinks that nervous and awkward behaviour is somehow desirable. But they are wrong.
OC
PD - Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder - is a condition in which sufferers feel the need for neatness, tidiness, cleanliness, accuracy, attention to detail, etcetera, etcetera. This is what I have. This is what most people who claim to have OCD have.
OCD is a different beast. OCD is a serious and mostly harmful mental condition whose sufferers often feel a need to repeat nonsensical tasks in order to achieve a greater goal; for example they must, when leaving a room, flick the light switch on and off seventeen times. If they don't do so a loved member of their family will die. This is a far cry from merely wanting things to be clean and tidy and ordered.
Granted, this is much of a simplification: there are often (but not always) connections between the two conditions, and any mental health issue is too vast a subject to summarise in just a couple of incomplete paragraphs comprised of a handful of sentences. But you're not dumb; I'm sure you get the point.
TL;DR: If you're going to claim to have a condition that compels you to accuracy and attention to detail, at least try to get the name of the condition right.

FYI the fact that thinking about this thread compelled me to write this response annoys me. I try to ignore these sort of things, and for the most part I do okay. But I've had a fantastic night out and filled myself with whiskey so I'm letting my naughty side play. We earned it
