My ship got destroyed because some other ship was wedged in the starport exit

I couldn't get out because an AI ship was wedged in the exit. The starport elected to destroy my ship and not the one that was blocking.

Is there any chance I could get my money back? There was nothing I could do and it destroyed me without warning.

From the screenshot, it wasn't his timer that expired. Shields were going down at 1:48 left on the clock, so I guess he was just gettting (ok, sitting - we're talking about a 'conda here...) in the way when the station's guns started blasting to clear out the mailslot.

Although I'm wondering why he had hardpoints deployed, in combat mode, with an offensive firegroup selected. If that was part of the problem, a recommendation for the future: uncheck the "fire button deploys hardpoints" binding.

Thank you - yeah I was just going back to do that but the starport destroyed me before I had chance! Thanks for the advice, I'll do that
If you can, get away from the entrance asap, as that timer is short... loitering in the starport of a bit more generous.

No hostiles on scan... maybe shields down from just hitting inside station wall?

Ha thanks, I didn't know the hardpoints were deployed, yeah maybe I knocked the trigger when I moved the HOTAS away. Shields were down as I'd made an attempt to 'help' the fat ship become dislodged :). I'd come away to grab the screenshot (in VR and in a different seat so it's a bit of an effort to get unhooked and back to the computer). I grabbed the screenshot and went back intending to quit the game, but the port was in the process of destroying me. It was before the countdown expired, so I also wondered if I'd left my ship loitering over another landing pad.

I'd overridden the advanced docking computer as it was plainly going to just sit dowmant 'in queue' until the timer ran down.

I've seen a number of AI ships get stuck around this port, I don't know if it's generally an issue everywhere else too.

While I was still playing in VR (couldn't be arxed any more after my headset broke), I had a small keyboard next to my VR seat, with a few plastic nubs (small self adhesive anti-slip feet) stuck to the more important keys - F10, backspace, "W", space bar - so I could hit them without loking.
