My ship is freezing

OK Cmdrs, i have a strange problem. Few days ago bought a Python and equipped it for DW. Then, as the standard procedure goes, took it on a test drive to HR 5171 system. And noticed something unusual: couple of times as i travel on supercriuse the heat level suddenly drops to ZERO! And a noise of cracking ice can be heard in the cockpit . Then heat goes back to normal. This is very spooky, lol
As the Python is still within the warranty period, should i return it to Faulcon DeLacy for repairs?
Anyone ever had such sudden temperature drops?

This would be the right time to unbind the "eject all cargo" button... while you're there. Just in case.

Not that anyone here has watched over a hundred tons of rare goods spill out in the slot of a space station. Nope. No one at all.

On a related note, I did once find a bugged system about 800Ly below the galactic core that would make my ship drop to 6% heat and ice up every time I flew more than a few Ls from the star. It was very bizarre, I wasn't carrying any heat sinks either before anybody asks :)

I nicknamed it "hells freezer" but haven't visited it since 2.0 launched to see if it still happens.

When I've crossed the 65K line my brain to hand link failed and istarted to push buttons at random. An heat sink was launched, I've heard crack sounds and saw strange lines in my canopy. I didn't know what was happening and I started to think: now i've made 65kly and my canopy is shattering for no reason! At least i already took the picture!

:D

The test drive is over and i am bringing the Python to the station for fine-tuning the configuration. Most likely the heat sinks will be removed altogether

I suggest that you leave at least one set of heat sinks. If youre going to Distant Worlds, there might come a situation where you jump to system and end up between two stars in some systems. In that situation your ship will heat up very fast and thats when the heat sinks come in.

I understand your point. I got into exactly this kind of incident in my previous trip. And i got no heatsinks so my ship took some damage. My decision is based on following arguments:

- heatsink has only 3 charges and cant be re-charged by syntesis
- it ads weight
- i find it more appropriate to have AFMU which has no weight (if i remember correctly - will double check later today) and can be re-supplied to help me repair the damage than to have heatsink which will help me prevent the damage in only 3 occasions.
- erm... on this test drive i brought heatsink with me and all 3 charges were fired accidentally even before i was 1000ly from home :D
