My solution to Instant ship transfer which also adds a much requested element to the game.

AI wing-men..
2.2 will bring us AI wing-men why not add this as a full feature into 2.2 enabling solo players to escort/be escorted by up to 3 of there own ships with the help of the AI in a wing of 4 to the desired destination at say 75% of the furthest jump range in the wing(or maybe 3x the lowest jump range), this would not bypass the hard limit of 4 ships in a wing, you could say have 2 Human controlled ships and 2 AI.

This would and could lead to all sorts of emergent game-play and would make traveling far more interesting than it is now or would be with instant transfer,
As the ship you want to take with you is coming along for the ride it would be to all intents and purposes be instant as you would arrive together as for the matter of losing your escorted ship/s the insurance buy back could stay the same.
this would also make you consider the risk of bringing 3 ships with you and what to choose for your wing.
Plus it would be a boon for traders/Miners and far more fun for attacking pirates and would balance up the current 4 vs 1 in pirating and PVP which is rife since wings and would also encourage leveling up your AI pilots

if you read this FD could we please have kws/cargo scanning during an interdiction with the option to break off the attack.

I've scanned through the threadnoughts and not seen anything like this suggested sorry if i've missed it.

/thoughts?

Edit : I know this wouldn't help with off the cuff ship summoning but most cmdrs travel with a plan in 2.1 I don't see why that would change.

Well to start with. OP anaconda AI Wings. This would be exploited to hell and back.

Yes I think you should be able to have AI Wings. But not in your ships and no larger than an eagle.

The instant ship teleportation could be fixed by simply adding a time to it.

Someone could kit out a combat condas with top tier everything and engineering mods. Now imagine 4 of them. With elite AI. They could finger blast the whole Galaxy.

You could argue that people can just group up in 4 wing anaconda's and do the same thing. Which you'd be right. But that requires communication/friends(lol)/and coordination. With a single man being able to bring an escort like that 3 AI would be ridiculous and ruin all semblance of balance this game has.

I would fix that problem by making where you can only have 1 AI escort and no additional wings(but multicrew) as well as any ship they do use is either a base model you can upgrade or a set model just for them

In terms of transporting if they were to implement it, make it where the AI Can't fight. Meaning it would be risky to bring more than one ship as you can't protect them all. And you can't have any cargo. Also if the ship goes boom it's gone forever.(IMO)

I'll just take the following to use for my wing
Flagship - Engineered Corvette
Armored Trader / Support - Engineered Anaconda
Fast Assault Ship - Engineered Clipper
Recon - Engineered Imperial Courier

And that would be fine as there's a good chance you would be toast faced with 4 good engineered human pilots the main reason lots of people stay out of open is wings you have zero chance solo with this system the odds are more even (not withstanding wing beacon exploits),

Also that's a lot of credits rebuy wise to put at risk as each ship would have try escaping a losing battle on it's own, this would bring balance.

With a 600 m/s Courier and a 550 m/s Clipper that fleet would be at almost zero risk. The Clipper and the Courier would never be caught by anything with any meaningful firepower. The Corvette and Anaconda could easily keep their shields up long enough to high wake. The biggest risk IMO would be to the courier who could be severely damaged by a strong alpha strike.

In Solo, an Engineered Corvette alone can waste NPC ships without much effort.

It would completely unbalance the game. There would no longer be room for new players or players that fancy smaller ships. They won't be giving us AI controlled escort ships that we can customize and if we can it won't be like ours.

As i said If you tried to hold your ground and fight vs 4 human pilots you would still probably lose i see no imbalance there unlike live right now where any new player venturing into open at a cg is faced with a wing of 4 players more often than not...

As for play in solo/private group vs npcs the amount of credits you have has ZERO effect on any part of the game also an an easy fix would be if you pull one ship with a wing of ai you face the same number in the enemy wing ie the targeted npc calls for help and is scaled to your combat rating and mods.

I really like this! But make the total AI number just 1 ship, and have two spins on the RNG NPC piracy..

Brian :)

And the current game in open is balanced right now for new players? most encounters near a CG are 4 vs 1 with the 1 being the new player, what happens in solo/private is of little concern as it effects nobody in open but as I said in the post above it could be balanced easily.
