My space cow (Type 9) makes me appreciate my other ships

Someone said it before so paraphrasing his quote - the type 9 exists to make [insert other ship here] look and feel awesome.
(Think it was in reference to moving from type 9 to anaconda.)

I spend roughly 50-50 play sessions driving my type 9, and in that sucker - it is very accurate to say 'driving', not piloting.

I pilot my Asp and Imperial courier, I drive my type 9 big rig 'space cow'. And switching from one to another is like working out with those weights attached, then taking them off and feeling like superman, can jump and run so high now lol.

Because of the huge trade in loss, plan on keeping my type 9 and just earn the total cash needed for anaconda instead of trade in the cow. The side benefit is it makes switching to other ships feel so much more awesome.

Well said. As an Asp and Type-9 owner I can only agree. I've had all the Lakon freighters and the 9 is the weirdest. It did amuse me when I was inside it for the first time and noticed corridors in the spaceport hanger that i'd not seen before. Then I realised ... hoho.

It's funny, I have the complete opposite experience. I fly the T9 and it feels like a realistic heavy machine. I jump in any other ship (except the Cobra) and it feels like a kids toy :)

Each to their own, even the Clipper feels arcade considering the ship is massive. The Conda does handle beautifully, I just wish my Clippper handled the same.

T9's should have those old Yorkie bar trucker slogans on the side - 'It's not for girls'

With all that being said, I probably wouldn't touch a T9 without rudder pedals and a HOTAS, you have to use your whole body to fly that machine. You get a workout in the process

One can only make suggestions to a type 9, encourage it to go in the desired direction. With luck it will be within two ships lengths of where you need it to be.

I agree, love that ship. Most realistic ship in game!

I also had this exact thought.

Alas, only in the beta where the ship was cheap as chips. I don't gots the moolah to buy one for realz.

I had to liquidate all my assets to move into a type 9 (reasonably decent geared python plus DBX), and at first not having anything else to fly kinda was a grind. But man, since the space cow is such a larger money earner, was able to re-buy a nice Imperial Courier to alternate 1-2 hour cargo sessions with.

Couple days was all it took of solid type 9 grinding to re-buy and gear out a full A rated Asp.

But now the easy upgrades are kinda done and in the long haul for whenever anaconda money piles up. For amusement I've armed my type 9 to kill npc pirate interdictors since the jump range is still same number of jumps for my route, armed or unarmed.

I will say that unlike any other ship, you gotta be on your toes soon as you pop out of hyper. The clearance room to avoid head on with a star is pretty slim with this rig.

Just reduce your speed during the count down or during witchspace, so if you have a key set to speed = 0 then use it and do not press any other key. This game caches some key strokes during witchspace, so they are carried out as soon as you finish the jump in the next system.

I have my mouse wheel set to 25% increments, so all I do is scroll it three clicks and I am at full stop on entering the next system

Unless dealing with a Neutron star, the T9 is capable of coming out of warp at full throttle. You never drop out dead centre, take the fastest exit path, stick in full rudder, roll and pull your way out.

Works everytime at 100% throttle, an awesome rollercoaster ride whilst skimming the star

I have to admit I bought a Type 9 and sold it in horror as it drove so differently than any other ship. But I've bought one back and I honestly love it. It's a beast, but it's my beast and feels like a starship and not a flying mini-van. (no knock on the Hauler as I like that ship too. :) ) It's also fun to watch pirates wither and pop under a barrage of pulse and beam lasers.

I love my cow. I have an Asp and a Python as well, for other purposes. but when I put myself in my Type-9 I know I am going to pull some serious cargo.

I love my space whale, I do like my federal dropship (and my newly acquired imperial ships are nice) but my armed space whale is my love.

I DO hate missing stations on SC that most of the time I usually just prefer to emergency drop, take the hull damage then reallign and jump again but that's my only complaint.

I kinda liked T9. If you accept its role and stick to it its ok. Only thing I hated was jump range, if you find good short route - its great massive credit printing machine. And the feeling when finally its you who is the biggest in mail slot.

Still - Anaconda is great upgrade - better in every aspect at the cost of some 50t cargo if you trade with the ability to be epic battle machine if upgraded for the role.

I actually like the T9 handling, it's like driving a barge. It's actually very easy to land given you can boost through the gate without real danger as you'll only go to 200 :D
