My squadron, the Vindicated, is about to lose our home system to a npc faction..HELP!

My squadron, The Vindicated headed by Vindicator Jones is about to lose our home system to a npc faction. I don't know how this is happening because all of us are fighting like mad. Any suggestions? Anyway, if you are bored we could use some help. Our home system is Aruru. Please fight on the side of The Vindicated and turn in combat bonds, Ford Station. Please note that the CZ must be done to completion or the Vindicated will be penalized. Thank you very much.

I feel you just basically signed your own death warrant, as far as your contest goes.

This isn't exactly accurate, is it?

A quick check over the system's BGS history shows that The Vindicators are the aggressors here, this current war being the final phase of an attempt to topple the ruling faction Revolutionary Aruru Independents in a campaign that you began last month.

He was mostly honest though. It is their home system and they are losing (shows 0 days to 2 days against them atm on Inara).

Judging by EDDB you are fighting to control the system but own nothing, suggesting you are taking over from scratch. If you lose, your penalty is -4 INF and you lose no assets (as you have none to lose). You won't be kicked out of the system.

Also note- the more bonds you do for your faction your rep will suffer with Revolutionary Aruru until you become hostile and cannot land.

It makes sense in some ways, but in the context of this game, it is more akin to Starbucks somehow being able to deny coffee to anyone who ever fought in a war against the US. I'm open to better analogies, but really that's not the point. The bottom line is that it puts the underdog at an even bigger disadvantage under the current game rules and without additional changes, is plain silly in my view.

Very much so. Its been debated quite a lot over in the BGS forum area.

Thank you for your responses. I have no idea why Jonesie didn't go Fed because most of us are Fed inclined. I know nothing of the BGS and it's shenanigans. I only know that we are 2/3 of the way to losing. If we win, great. If we lose, we pick ourselves up and do it again. Spirit and ideas are invincible.

:)

Everyone wants to be different, unique, and "independent". Then they find out that theyre just like every other nameless indie faction in the game (most of which are abandoned) and they don't have any allies or friends like the superpowers do.

If you were Fed or heaven help you even Alliance, you'd have more than a few friends shooting up enemies in your CZs with you. Membership has it's benefits. You don't have to be alone.

If I were to try to help these folks, do I lose rep with Federation when fighting against the faction affiliated with federation?
I've never fought against Federation forces before, preferring to always pick on the independents.

You would rapidly but temporarily lose your 'friendly' (or otherwise) friendship status, NOT the rank or even reputation you've gained. However, this might affect your gameplay if you are still trying to rank up with the federation, as it will take a long time to get back to allied again and that will have a strong effect on the rep you gain from other activities (the higher your friendship status is, the faster you gain 'rep' both with the superpower and minor factions allied to them). Incidentally and simply for the sake of completeness, it's worth mentioning that friendship status with a superpower both decays when high, and increases when low, in the absence of any interaction affecting its direction, until it takes the middle of the bar where it stays.

You will also become hostile with the fed faction you are fighting due to this new loss of rep from conflict zones, and after a certain number of czs your support will become more and more inconvenient, until you are forced to hand in and rearm after each cz at the nearest interstellar factors.

Thank you so much for this answer. I am indeed working on getting ranks with Federation still....I'm 40% of my current rank away from unlocking the Corvette, which is the next ship I want to buy.

Guess I won't be helping the poor Vindicators.

I feel for them, Inara now shows them at 0 days vs. 3 days of victories, in favor of the other side. I don't know all the ins and outs of BGS, but I think that means all the other side needs now is to have their influence get high enough over the Vindicators for the war to end (still shows as even influence on Inara right now though, so I guess they could still pull it off, right?).

Conflicts are best of 7 days, so if the other side wins one more day the war is over. In theory at this point the Vindicators could still win four days in a row for a 4-3 comeback.
