Horizons My sympathy to the Cambridge posse

I love this (game?) experience and NO, I am not a newcomer. Been here since early millenium and signed up and launched before 1.0 released.

The flak cannons have been on overload the last couple of weeks for numerous reasons. For example the NPC issue. I'm all for 'everyone should enjoy this' - approach, not so much the neutering AI across the board. Several alternative and good suggestions have been brought to the table since then. But this have been argumented ad nauseum.

The grind? No probs there, unless you're into the 'endgame', whatever that is...? The fix? Fine with me.

What really, really grinds my gear is the modus operandi when delivering feedback: e.g "You guys suck, I'm leaving" or "What's next? Unicorns handing out creds?"
...And when the devs finally 'fix' it, all of a sudden it is "I love you guys!".

These forums (when digging a little deeper) have a lot to offer in terms of comradery and interesting discussions, but nowadays I steer clear of the forums before loading up ED because it always ends up me not booting up.

I'm not playing a mod here but come on, we're all grown ups (despite the fact that we love spacefaring swashbuckling games), can we atleast try to deliver feedback in a - you know the word: - constructive tone.

Any whining, yelling, rage quit 'threatening' will only go one way: down - For the the future of the game and the community.

I will leave the next couple of post for the "we payed for this, we should be...." crowd.

Rant(?) over.

This forum does not reflect player base.

There's a way too large fanboy group in here as there's a way too large part that is happy to live out any sociopathic tendencies.

So: Never mind.

You are correct. It's the extremes .They show a skewed view. But it has been proven that any loud noices in this particular place (the official forums) are being heard. For better or for worse.

Aah...like you said: nevermind. Uphill we go, and not necessary in a good way.

I am neither of these extremes. I absolutely love this game, but if I see something wrong with it I will comment. However, I don't have a massively overblown sense of self entitlement, so I tend to merely offer up *suggestions* of how I think certain game mechanics could be improved, or else I will report what I think is clearly a bug.....in the appropriate sub-forum.

No arguments there, mate. [up]

They reap as they sew!

I think you would see a lot more Praise Posts around here if FD wasn't CONSTANTLY BREAKING the GAME every time they issue a new update!

This last one had a lot of good things in it, and they are working to improve things, but overshadowing all of that positive stuff is the fact that this very same update BROKE the Docking Computer along with NPCs ability to land at large StarPorts resulting in ship debris scattered all over the docking bay at all the stations where the automated docking system is broken. Have you not noticed that NPCs are not landing on pads anymore, but are getting blown up by the station constantly? Did this little detail fail to register for some reason?

The changes they made to the Turret system sounded like a great idea, but they also BROKE the Turret Weapon Mode setting so that it won't stay set to anything but FIRE AT WILL. If you use Turrets, this is causing a lot of additional steps to be taken before each and every combat engagement.

You think these issues are no big deal do you? Or perhaps the fact that you don't personally use the DC or Turrets disqualify these issues from being important?

Well... I don't agree! And while I would love nothing more than to praise FD for their work, I also have to be honest about what I see. And when it comes to their attention to detail, I'm afraid that it is simply non-existent! How does an update make it all the way through internal testing with the Docking Computer totally broken?

Anyone who thinks paying customers don't have a case for voicing their disapproval over that has an incredibly LOW standard of quality, and I pity them for it. If they want to get hosed on a regular basis and call it gaming bliss, well, they are surely entitled to do that.

But don't come on here and start dissing those in the community who are tired of having to deal with a musical chairs of broken features, month after month, year after year! For once I would like to see the game fully functional without some major feature broken and awaiting the next update to hopefully put it right again!

But don't worry... As soon as Frontier gets their act together, I will be one of the first to stand up and sing their praises. But praise is earned. I would like to believe that the folks at Frontier would prefer genuine praise over fanboy blather.

Examples? Today. 3 hours (!) of empty instances. Not only me. All my mates. There's the same creature shooting people at Eravate that emptied Leesti a year ago and we're unable to keep him busy because we ALL fly through EMPTY instances for THREE hours.

No MTU bug. No uPnP problem. No failing port forwarding. Just the screwed up matchmaker sending us through empty instances. Plus the occasional disconnect by matchmaking error every 15-45 minutes.

I'm so tired of all that. 2.1. provides about as much happiness as the 1993 version.

Wanting a game you paid for to not be full of bugs (some of them which had already been fixed, but keep returning) is a "sense of entitlement"? Right, and I'm the queen of England.

Maybe, just maybe, the complaints exist for a reason. And I say this as someone with over 1500 hours of game time. The game is great in many ways, but it clearly has some problems, from endless bugs to an over-reliance on the RNG, to seemingly half-done updates, and if you disagree you must be some combination of lucky (the RNG was nice to you, no bugs have screwed you yet) and in denial ...or you see no problem playing an entire day for minimal progress because you're some kind of ultra gaming nerd masochist.

Exactly!

My advice is to take condescending posts like that as your cue to add them to your ignore list and move on. Arguing with Apologists is a waste of time. Arguing with arrogant, condescending Apologists even more so! I try to avoid it when I can. When you are as blind as some of those people are, it really is pointless to even attempt to get them to see logic.

If Frontier wants to continue breaking established and well used features of their game any time they post an unrelated update, then they will have to live with the consequences. No Man's Sky is just around the corner, and one of these days Star Citizen will be ready for prime time.

This game has enjoyed a long period of little to no competition, but that is all about to change in a rather dramatic way. If they want to retain the bulk of their player base, they would be wise to consider comments like ours, over the perpetually bent over. ;)
