My take on THE PHOTO

First I want to thank FDev for a job well done. You folks went back to the basics and made a killer comeback from the low of the launch of Odyssey(which btw is my favorite type of play right now).
But based on what I saw, I know that the Thargoid war has not ended but will move to on foot combat. The picture is obvious, 2 zomboids become 4 then 4 become 8. The story echoes of the creation story of Adam and Eve. From two a whole race was born and the irony of it, the last Titan destroyed where it all began. I am optimistic that we might have ground combat with Zomboids on our home turf, Earth. I believe it will be the perfect place to introduce that type of biosphere and since, by my understanding it was ravaged during WW3 skies the limit on the terrain.

Just a thought

Cool tinfoil hattery.
Hopefully we get some kind of on foot thargoid combat, that would be cool I guess.

If this echoes creation story it's more akin to the nephilim and the fallen ones and not adam and eve.
Where in this case the thargoids are the fallen ones and the nephilim corrupted mankind

First of all, the nephilim were the cross breeding between humans and angels, human were infected by thargoids in ED. My point was that from 2(as the story goes) the whole human race began, from two Zomboids the new thargoid race begins.

2 times from incest was not enough? That's a weird story indeed. ;)

look to the history of the guardians, they won a war against the thargoids then destroyed themselves in a civil war over technology possibly derived from thargoid tech. We have won the war and now we'll really ramp up the thargoid tech. its possible that guardians were taken and altered in the same way humans were and that was the cause of the civil war. we may be celebrating a very hollow victory. Who knows if this will actually happen but it is definately one possible interpretation of that message.

We rescued millions from those titans and some have been set free to live with the general population, we know they have been altered in some way but are not sure what effects those changes will have. If this does develop in this way it wont be for some time i think as we have as we have PP2 and upcoming colonisation to contend with at the moment.

Hats off to fdev for some seriously great gameplay and storytelling.

we know they have been altered in some way
That's one thing we don't know.
So far all the Pod People have been given a clean bill of health with no implants or anything else of concern detected, which is why the Alliance already released their rescued people, and the Federation plan to but haven't gotten around to it yet because of internal politics.

There are many theories as to what comes next and what the purpose of the defeated Thargoid Invasion was, given some of the currently unexplained tactics we saw. Not all those theories rely on there having been changes to the people we rescued.

That's one thing we don't know.
Thats is one thing we do know.

Dr Zoe Terentia , chief researcher at Kamadhenu Medipure , published her findings in the Citizens Chronicle.

“Our analysis of abducted Imperial citizens currently in isolation has yielded disturbing results. There is clear evidence of an auto-immune response in multiple subjects. These manifest as minor physiological changes at a superficial level, which are mostly being dismissed.”

“In my professional opinion, this qualifies as evidence that these individuals have been altered in some way by the Thargoid-constructed bio-storage capsules. I recommend they all be relocated to a high-security location beyond inhabited space. Should further mutations manifest, euthanasia should be considered to prevent any chance of contamination.”

“The Imperial Palace also responded to Kamadhenu Medipure, which has called for all abductees to be relocated to deep space and possibly euthanised. The company was thanked for its ‘robust proposals’, but instructed to leave such considerations to the Senate.”

The Empire are the ones being the most severe in their treatment of those rescued, and even they think that doctor is talking nonsense.

Yes, but the fact remains that there are changes to the physiology of abductees and we have no way of knowing how that will play out. Given what little we know about both thargoids and guardians it is a possibility. We dont even understand why the thargoids abducted people rather than just kill which would have been easier, perhaps this area of space is important to them and our war was just thier relocation program. This is all conjecture.

As described, the changes in "auto-immune response" and "minor physiological changes at a superficial level" aren't anything that we wouldn't expect to see in human prisoners kept in human prisons on Earth in the 21st century. Given the circumstances, where people were held in alien pods for months, that's the least we would expect and not enough to go on.
(Even though I think it obviously will lead to something in the plot!)
